I sent for a BOM entitled Women of The Bible. I thought it was a beautiful quilt and something I could gift to my Mom when I had it done. Has anyone done this quilt? I received the first month yesterday, and I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. There are no rotary cutting instructions-actually there are few instructions at all. It seems one needs to join a Bible study group in order to get some instructions-re: layout and cutting-I have joined the study group ,that in itself is perplexing-I'll let everyone know in a month or two how things go-- :shock:

Saw the ad for that but passed on it & bought the Herbs & Spices From the Bible. These are applique blocks with a ideas for embellishing with embroidery or beading, etc. if you'd like. Bought it from Clotilde catalog. They've come out with Flowers from the Bible since then. Maybe you'd like that better? Just a thought ;-)

I would love to see a picture or a link to the quilt.

I also ordered this BOM... and recieved it yesterday. After two hours I did get one square of the block sewn together. :) It is VERY daunting and I am not sure what I will do about the second block that came in the kit this month. It looks very difficult.... maybe we can give each other tips? :)

If it's the same "women of the bible" quilt blocks as my Quilt Ministry group got....they have had to re-write and figure out measurements and make templates for each and every block...so I'd say make sure that all templates and instructions are included.

There is also a book for sale through Amazon (used $18.00) for Women of the Bible quilt pattern. Not sure if it's the same thing.

I did locate some PDF's in the Yahoo study giving some tips... plus the Bible Study portion. While daunting, I am sooooo excited for this quilt! :)

I have just finished downloading some of the files from the bible study group. They go through each block starting with Eve. At the end of each bible study are some explanations about each block. I am not a master quilter ,so it's going to take some time. I also am going to buy the book online for the bible study group.I am not very good with files and attachments. if I can get a computer savy person to help me I will try to send you some things. The Bible study group is at Yahoo,you need to create a yahoo account and then go to Women of the Bible study group and sign up. :?good luck andput some pics on line :thumbup:

I am a member of the yahoo group. :) I do already have the book mentioned, but it doesnt have anything to do with the quilt (not to discourage you, but just so you are aware). A friend is doing the Bible Study portion with me, and would love to hear your thoughts on the study as well if you plan on doing that as well. Also, I found a pattern with cutting measurements for the Sarah's Choice block at About.com, SCORE!! :) Will this thread stay open so we can keep each other up to date on our progress?

I was given this pattern by a friend and would be glad to pass it on to someone if they want it...just PM me. It is now something I do not wish to do.

I completed the first two blocks last evening. :) I am very pleased with how they came out. I will try to get some pics posted when I get home this evening.

the next block I think is Lot's wife this is what I have-Making the block-to make the templates for this drawing ,Trace each different shape in the design and add a 1/4 inch seam to the shape then Hagar's block-same as above except she states the wandering foot is an applique block-sorry not much help. I need to do the first two and see if I can do them -happy quilting

me too. Right now I'm making a dress for my gd first birthday-so no quilting for a little while.Will try to put my first squares on line soon :-)

mellie-I just want you to know I haven't forgotten you-I cut out the first 3 blocks-cut wrong with the garden of eden and had to send for a fat quarter of the color I messed up. I did get the wondering hand done and it doesn't look too bad. If I can figure out how to put pics on web I'll do it. How are you coming along? Please don't get discouraged-I am not a master quilter more like the lowly apprentice but I have a stubborn streak and it's not gonna get me down :thumbup: :thumbup:

I havent started the 2nd month blocks yet... :-) I set them down and haven't picked them back up yet!! :-) hoping I get the itch to get going on them soon :-)

I hear ya-it is sooo hot here that I don't have much ambition to quilt.
