Have you ever got some wonder under that just wasn't good? Or I should say can't pull the paper off? I fused it to my fabric and can't get the paper to come off so I can fuse it again.I have held the iron on it like I was suppose to and then I tried it again thinking that maybe it would come apart. Not!! I have gone all the way around it and just can't seem to get it apart.

Try scratching it lightly with a pin. Roughing the paper up a bit helps me when it's not working.

Thank you. That did the trick. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

I do not like wonder under. Try Steam-a-Seam, love that stuff!!

I like the heat and bond lite!!

CarrieAnne 01-07-2011 08:26 PM

Heat and Bond lite is my favorite too

I sell more heat-n-bond lite than any other fusible on the market. I go through a bolt a month! TWO during Oct/Nov!

How old was the Wonder Under..sometimes age does this.

Same here.

I forgot to say that how it is stored also matters as does where you live! ALL fusibles like moisture! If your room is dry or over heated, it will ruin your fusibles so fast it will hurt! If heat/dryness is the issue then store your fusibles in a sealed tupperware or ziploc container/bag! The less hot dry air it gets the better! Same if you have TOO much moisture...it can make it separate from the paper!

I have tried the wonder under but also prefer the steam a seam.

I just bought it a few days before christmas so I don't know how long hancock fabrics had it. And as for it being stored I don' think my room is that cold or too hot. Who knows at least with a little picking at it with a pin I am able to take it off. I thought that I might have to go out and get more. It works for now.
Thanks everyone.

I think the fusible preference among quilters is similar to whether you prefer Cain's or Hellman's or Miracle Whip on your sandwich. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-signs132.gif

The post about using a pin to score the backing is a good one. I have used Wonder Under for over 20 years and scoring with a pin point is what I have always done.

I agree, Steam-a-Seam is the best!

Just don't score the paper close to the edge, it will cause fraying of the fabric  :D:D:D

I too have had this happen. If the piece is small stick it in the freezer for about 1/2 hour. Then immediatley pull the paper off.

This has happened to me, as well. I think it gets damp, or something, in shipping or storage. Anyway, one thing that always helps me is to let it sit after pressing it on the fabric. Sometimes I press it on one day and then don't go back to it till the next day. That seems to help. Good luck!
