I went to wm and bought 2 jelly rolls for the same price. Last week they were 15.00 so maybe next week they will be 5.00 wouldn't hurt to check it out.

The queen/king size Trip around the World quilt that I am doing from 2-1/2" squares is 39 squares across = approx.78" square. Actually mine is closer to 80 something inches because my seams have been very scant 1/4"! Doing it by hand starting at the center, with all squares cut out individually. Not sure how many strips of the 10 different fabrics it took to cut the squares...just cut a bunch of them and when I ran out cut some more...lol! I'm almost done, just have to finish out to the corners and each row has one square less than the one before it now, so it's going much faster.

To figure out how many squares across you need, just divide the width you want it to be by 2 since a 2-1/2" square ends up 2" square after seams. Then figure you will get 17 squares out of each strip if they are 44" long, which will be 34" after seams. So 17 strips would make a 34" x 34" square quilt.

Haven't figured out past that! Hope this helps.

That is ver helpful.. Thanks. I know that I want to make it for a twin size, so I will do the math and see if I can figure it out. Also, I;m going to do batik, so I was wondering if I should rotate the batik with a solid color? Does that make sense to you? Thanks again if you would be able to help.
