wool blankets

I have some old wool blankets. I'm curious. Can I use them in place of batting in quilts?

what are their washing instruction?? That is what I would use as my guide to using them or not.

i would definitely use them in a bed quilt. i don't think i'd cut them up for smaller quilts. the one i have is well washed/shrunk. i'll not use it though, because it was my dad's navy blanket and it has his name in the corner.

How about making a duvet cover, instead? That's what I did. When the cover needs to be cleaned, I wash it saving the wool from shrinking more. I did gently wash and dry it before I measured it for the cover. I use concealed safety pins to hold the filler in place.

Wash them, dry them and use them! They make wonderful battings. They also make wonderful pieces, backings, and appliques
