Wool Strips

I was reading Quiltingweb's post, and it got me to thinking.

I saw a pretty wool quilt that has inspired several hours of dreaming and planning. It was a beautiful picture of a basket of flowers. The quilter made it by cutting the pieces from prepared felted wool and then butting the pieces together and sewing them together with a zig zag stitch onto the foundation.

I have many strips I had cut to make a braided wool rug. I love the rug I made and use in the kitchen. But with the little furry friends we have I am concerned that having a large one in the living room might be more frustrating than fun. So, I am thinking of staying with the wood floor in there.

Next thought...use the stripps and a wonderful foundation to create a "quilt as you go" masterpiece. If I drafted the design on freezer paper...oh think of the possibilities...

What do you think?

Love it! In my sample, I started with a 12 inch square, and stitched and flipped my way around my square. I could have done all my blocks this way and stitched them together when they were finished. The others I've made are just strip pieced and I will add batting and quilt on my long arm when I'm done...unless I change my mind again!
