I went through all of my fabrics and cut the pieces I had laid aside into the 2in squares for my postage stamp quilt. It took literally hours, but finally they are all together. I also organized all of my fabrics. I know it wont last long, but it looks good for the moment lol.

amma 12-26-2009 08:20 PM

WooHoo!!! You put me to shame...disorganized and cluttered here...

charmpacksplus 12-26-2009 08:24 PM

Congratulations!! Same here amma..... too disorganized to organize. Too much fabric, too many projects, no designated sewing room. I actually use my china cabinet to store some of my fabric since I sew on the dining room table anyway.

Leota 12-26-2009 08:35 PM

Wow... I went into my sewing room... does that count??? lol
I'm impressed....congratualtions

sharon b 12-26-2009 08:54 PM

Wish I had your energy  I am excited for you

Jim's Gem 12-26-2009 09:24 PM

YEA!!!

momto4 12-26-2009 09:43 PM

LOL I dont have a sewing area either unfortunately. I just have a table that I bring back and forth down the hallway from my bedroom to the living room. I am however lucky enough to have a HUGE closet. My DH and I have dressers in our room so the whole thing is mine for all of my quilting supplies (and some seasonal storage). I am positive this will not last long....I give it a week if I am lucky then I will be back to my chaoticness haha :D

amma 12-26-2009 10:19 PM

Whew!!! You ARE normal LMBO

mimisharon 12-27-2009 07:33 AM

Oh, gosh, I'm jealous! I want to get organized again, I want my pretty fabrics all to be in order, I plan every day to do it  but somehow the needle on the machine keeps calling my name and I'm off and pushing the pedal again instead of organizing. I'm hopeless but I did get the threads all off the carpet (IF I could only get all the stuff out to put down wood floors instead of carpet) but then I began cutting that lovely lavendar to put together more pillow shams for the beautiful little girls...oh, yeah, I have the snoopy quilt to work on today, the off center square for Micah, the fallen hero. I'd better get off and back to the chaos..

renee765 12-27-2009 07:38 AM

I THOUGHT about organizing - do I get a 50% credt for that
?

oksewglad 12-27-2009 01:12 PM

I like to think of it as organized chaos

pinner 12-27-2009 02:39 PM

deedum 12-27-2009 07:34 PM

Jeannie 12-28-2009 10:19 AM

I want to see that quilt when you finish!!

Damkina 12-28-2009 10:30 AM

Well done you! :-D

I've been LOOKING at quilts on the net... for a while... does that count?

quiltsRfun 12-28-2009 10:41 AM

I didn't get as much done as you but made considerable progress on my grandson's quilt. I hope to get the top finished over the New Year's weekend.

Congratulations on getting your fabrics organized. I still haven't done that. :(

nette 12-29-2009 06:22 AM

With wind chill well below zero here today I think you've inspired me to go to my sewing room and "organize" Will it last? Of course not !. lol

sandpat 12-29-2009 06:25 AM

I've decided that if I organized, my cat wouldn't know where to sleep! Congrats....I do love it when my room is all nice and neat...it just doesn't happen very often!

well, I am at the point if I don't keep it all organized, I can't possibly work.
I know that makes me a minority, but I have lots of stuff. I don't look down my nose at those that don't stay organized, bc I am that way, every other hour. It's a constant battle I tell you,...and yes, it does eat up quilting time.
I just can't create in craziness, and I am constantly making craziness as I create...it's a doggone vicious cycle!
Want an example?

This is only part of my sew-cave, and i am still cleaning and straightening, but shelves galore, have stuff neatly stacked, in other parts of room. will get around to posting more, one day :)

Thank you for inspiration to move forward. I was blessed to have my neice want the beds in a guest room. That was my signal to create this as my sewing studio. The room is large, hard wood floors. three windows . I have started and it is so wonderful to have an organized room. It quiets my spirit and lets me fell creative, even if not yet  My challenge is to use what I already have in the house to make this work without spending a fortune. I saw a wonderful folding quilting table for $400 and realized, I have an old oak table in the dinning room that does that!!! DH hleped me lug it upstairs and WOW this works for me. I will post pictures when it is completed.

I got my thread organized yesterday! Then spent the day with son, d-i-l and granddaughter before they went home. Today the Christmas decor is coming down and packed away. T H E N I can get back to my sewing room. I really want to get back in there, I'm having withdrawal..

zennia 12-29-2009 08:04 AM

Well I spent a lot of time cleaning and getting all my UFO organized for a challenge I am in. Got my list made and ready to go shopping at the joanns sale. Next week everything will be a big mess again. I try to be organized but sometimes its just does'nt work. Thank goodness I have a sewing room and can just close the door when i leave.

tucky46 12-29-2009 01:45 PM

hahaha...I can't get into my sewing room...have to get a bulldozer to help...or and organizing fairy

Tiffany 12-29-2009 01:46 PM

If it only took you a day to get organized, I'd say you don't have enough small scraps. Time to go shopping! ;) ;)

Yeah, I can commiserate. My sewing room is a disaster and I'm supposed to have a group of 8 ladies coming over sometime next week for the first meeting of the Baby Jane Bee.

It depends. How long did you actually stay in the room?

pal 12-29-2009 02:49 PM

We had a water problem 2 days before Christmas. I bent down to get something out of a drawer and when I stood up
my knee's were soaked. We had to take 16" out of my wall from floor to ceiling. Everything is piled up all over the basement, the carpet was soaked, etc. The faucet had been
dripping for who knows how long. Just worried about my stash stinking.............woe is me....oh, and the oven konked out while Christmas dinner was cooking. My sewing room looks like Who did it and ran?

Oh no! Make sure to wash any fabric that got wet so that no mold grows on it. I just learned there is a natural mold that loves to grow on cotton fabric. No sense encouraging it. ;) I hope your faucet & the basement are set to right soon.

Sparky 12-29-2009 03:44 PM

I'm doing this instead of organizing

Shemjo 12-29-2009 03:55 PM

Pal, I am so sorry to hear of your problems. Hope you get everything under control soon!

To all you other over achievers, raspberries! I am moving my stash form all over to one room in my house! I am overwhelmed with all the great fabrics! But I don't have enough space in the one room for everything! I must sew up some stuff to get it out of the house, thus more bags!

Does this sound like a resolution?

Congratulations to all of you who are organized. You give me something to strive for!

sandpat 12-29-2009 04:23 PM

QnC....thats a great shot of your cave....wow...you gots LOTS of thread! I'm a little  whenever I see pics of your cave...and I also know what nice stuff comes outta there!

Pal...so sorry about the water. I hate leaky stuff and the mess it creates...horrid! Hope it all gets repaired and cleaned up soon.

deedum 12-29-2009 06:42 PM

just want to know how long you been at this hobbie? I just finished my second year and still in the collecting stage. That is scary right there. I am not organized at all, I took 3 days off work last year and organized. Not sure what happened there! Everytime I walk in the room I think I need to organize again, will I ever get there? I am anxious to get back in there and start or finish a project!

rosalia856 12-30-2009 08:55 AM

Now that you have finished organizing yours how about coming to Ohio and do mine.LOL Go for you. I am jealous. Have a blessed New Year.
