The guy called today and said my treadle is ready to be picked up and he said it was sewing like a breeze. I am so excited about getting it and sewing on if for the first time in about 40 some odd years.

congrats ought to be neat sewing on it. I have one that sews but have yet to make anything on it!
|
Lucky you! Mine is all taken apart for cleaning and repairing, and I don't know when I'll ever get to use it... Hubby is so busy since he retired!
|
How much fun will that be - sewing on it again! I learned to sew on a treadle and electric. Hmmm I wonder if it is anything like riding a bike? Do you forget how to sew on one or do you just jump right in and remember how to do it?

KSue, I am wondering the same thing, will I be able to sew on it...lol. It is the one I learned to sew on, so I really am excited, made in 1924.

I'm doing the happy dance too about my "new machine". I can pick up my 1947 Singer 201-3 tomorrow. I took it in to get re-wired as the cords were cracked, fraying and breaking in spots. As I didn`t want shocks, I felt it was better to get it re-wired, cleaned and checked before starting to stitch. My repair lady is charging me $70 which I think is a resonable price to avoid a bad surprise.

I'm sure with just a little practice it will all come back to you. Congratulations.

I'm so happy for you!!! :D:D |
I've never been lucky enough to have gotten to sew on a treadle, but maybe I will one day. I'm happy for you. :):):)
