It Works! It Works!

When I write down that I promise to do some hand quilting the next day, I actually do it. After not taking a stitch for many weeks, I've worked on one of my UFO's for three days in a row.

maryb119 02-05-2016 02:49 PM

YAY! I will have to do that trick, too.

Sync 02-05-2016 02:50 PM

Whooooohooooo glad that got you back to work.

annievee 02-05-2016 04:26 PM

Good for you, I will have to try that !

"A promise made is a debt unpaid!" Guess you are paying your debts! lol

sewingsuz 02-05-2016 05:23 PM

That is a good idea. Good for you!

That is a great idea. After having a quilt on the frame for far too long, I promised myself that I would take at least one stitch every day. Of course I never stop with one stitch even when I am very busy. There are very few days in the last six months I have not kept this promise. Have finished that quilt and am well on my way with another one. A little bit every day adds up. I should write that promise down.

I am going to start that! Thank you for sharing

Must try writing down the job to do.

jmoore 02-06-2016 03:41 AM

it's like a "honey-do" list.... I have to make lists quite often for myself of things that need to be done at work and it keeps me on task and I accomplish so much more. I will sometimes do that for home projects and prioritize by want which has more importance...

I will definitely have to try it for sewing. ;)

Sandygirl 02-06-2016 04:13 AM

Goals begat the list!

What a great hint. Love it.

Oi do that for reading...try to get in 30 pages a day and stay on schedule. It, too, works.

Karamarie 02-06-2016 05:53 AM

I discipline myself kind of like that or I'm afraid things would not get done. Like I say "tomorrow I get that quilt basted" and I do it. After big not so much fun projects I will give myself a little treat when done. I'm also able to not start another project until the one at hand gets done, hopefully I can continue to discipline myself.

I'm another that lives by lists. Be it for shopping; projects; whatever. And when I have something fun that I want to do (sewing/quilting) I use that as my 'reward' for doing the not so fun stuff - laundry; cleaning.

lyndaj 02-06-2016 06:17 AM

Awesome. You go

grammasharon 02-06-2016 06:26 AM

Must try your trick! I have a Christmas quilt pieced and I started hand quilting on it and get bored and put it back in the closet. Maybe this will work. LOL

LOVE your "signature". Have you any idea who originated it? If you, wow! It's PERFECT!

Maggie77802 02-06-2016 08:50 AM

My problem with writing stuff down is I lose the piece of paper.............

ManiacQuilter2 02-06-2016 08:54 AM

Is that called your Honey Do List?? :)

MargeD 02-06-2016 09:53 AM

I'm glad you found a method that works for working on UFO's, maybe I should try your meth od.

If you are talking about the life not being a movie, yes that is my own. Thanks so much.

jamsbuying 02-06-2016 12:50 PM

Great idea and so glad it works for you!

cassiemae 02-06-2016 01:21 PM

Way to go keep it up.

JanieH 02-06-2016 02:35 PM

That sounds like a good idea = I will have to try it to get back to my quilting.

Yooper32 02-07-2016 05:03 AM

Amazing, how we can fool ourselves into doing what we really know we should be doing.

annette1952 02-07-2016 08:59 AM

I'll have to give it a try. Thank you!

maryellen2u 02-07-2016 08:39 PM

That's why I always make a "to do list" Sunday night. It keeps me focused on what I must do so I can also do what I want to do!
