Do you happen to have the name of the weaver in Wales and their website, if there is one? I'd love to see what they have because you make them sound wonderful.
We just happened upon them as we were driving through that part of the country. They shipped my things home for me, so I didn't have to lug it all around. Beautiful woollen goods! ~ C |
One of our sons lives in Japan and we need to get there. Want to go but dreading the trip :(
I wish he lived in Italy lol. |
Several of you have mentioned India. I'm so envious! That place has been on my bucket list for a long time. I think that it will be the next place we go after Japan. (Gotta love airline miles.) I'll be sure to post again to ask for fabric places in that country.

We lived in Seoul for several years. It is a great city! There are several areas that offer dazzling selections of anything and everything fabric related. I usually buy at least 100yds of fabric while I'm there. I now buy mostly solids and blenders because that is what I need the most. It is a wholesale environment so most vendors won't sell less than 1 yd. My attitude?? Not a problem. Selection is what you see! I've never been disappointed with my purchases. If you look at bolt info, fabric often comes from Korea. Have bought all sorts of brands, including Vera Bradley yardage. A real treasure hunt which thrills me. Prices are great, and a healthy baggage allowance eliminates shipping costs! Going again in 2 weeks! Cannot wait!

I have a niece who lives in Paris as well. I need to get going!!!
I am Italian, Tropit. Both sides. That's the place I really want to go to. My son in Japan studied for a semester in Lecce and loved it. |

I had to reply to this -- I finally retired in 2000 and backpacked to eastern europe. Digging for the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg Russia, visiting quilters in finland, Poland, Estonia and Lithuania, passing thru Germany and staying in Austria and Slovakia. I had a bet with a quilting friend that I couldn't find cotton fabric MADE in whatever country I was. I did!!! and the search added to my stay in everyplace. I had to ask questions, met other quilters and actually "taught"a class in Poland at a small shop using smiles and hands on showing. The owner spoke some english and we had a wonderful time. The most amazing fabric shop was in Vienna -- a whole 5 floors of fabrics -- one floor for just cottons.
Later I travelled to other countries and the only place I didn't find COTTON was in China. I don't read or speak chinese so I couldn't wander around. Meeting other quilters was always a highlight. Mim |
