Beautiful quilt! I agree with GemState. Mitered corners aren't as hard as you may think. I mitered the corners on the first couple of quilts I ever made over 20 years ago. Just find a video or written instructions you like and take it one step at a time.

That's gorgeous! Mitering a corner really isn't a big deal. Although I haven't done it on a quilt, I have mitered corners on smaller (craft) projects. You can do it!

Super top! You can iron in the 45* folds while it is laying nice and flat. Fold the extra border fabric underneath back at the 45* angle so that the 2 folds meet perfectly in the corner. If you are really worried, match up the fold lines, pin and hand stay stitch the seam or use a few drops of Elmer's washable glue in the seams. Lay the quilt back out flat and check the miter. If everything still looks good, machine sew the seams. Check again before cutting away any of the extra border fabric. Proceed to the other 3 corners in the same manner.

Excellent- Thank you Tartan!!!!!

I have not accomplished mitered boarders yet, however your quilt is just beautiful.

Beautiful quilt! Once you've watched a video or 2, make up a practice piece. You'll feel better once you have done one before working on your larger quilt.

Beautiful quilt!!! Good luck with your mitered corners. Once you get the hang of it, you'll see it is not that hard.

I have done miter borders for over 20 years and the only advice I can give you is don't cut the fabric until after you have sewn the seam and it has pressed out smoothly. I don't know why, I always measure twice and sew once but one of the corners is ALWAYS off just a bit!!

You really did a spectacular job on your quilt especially with the colors you selected.

Beautiful Quilt! And thanks for posting this question and thanks to Barb in Lousianna for the You Tube link. I am working on Quilt #7 for Soldier #7 (So, I opened my big mouth thread..) and wanted to do something different, like miter the corners. I knew all I had to do was search the board...and here it is!
