Worried about my Gypsy Wife Quilt Challenges

I ordered the pattern The Gypsy Wife from the fat quarter store is selling the pattern/booklet

http://www.fatquartershop.com/gypsy-...attern-booklet

. But it presents 3 challenges for me....1) I will have to expand it to a king or queen size for my family and friends. and 2) I only hand quilt as I go so I need a straight line or seam to divide up the quilt into smaller rows which means I will be "adapting" her pattern and hope to have lots of fun. and 3) I don't have any more large "collections" in my stash and it may turn out crazy, uncoordinated, and messy if I use the random scraps I have. .

Did I jump in over my head? Any opinions?

No, you did not jump in ahead. I think you could add about anything to it and it will look good. I really like it too.
Have fun!!!

I say go for it! I've seen that Quilt and it's kind of crazy anyway. I really like it. It's on my list of quilts to try.

I think it sort of looks like a "clean out the refrigerator" design, anyway. So I think random scraps would be fine.

Agreed -- that quilt can handle lots of scraps -- berisgray I love the "clean out the refrigerator" -- I will have to remember that.

I think all your various scraps will be great in this! Give it a whirl!! :)

If you are concerned about the too scrappy look, buy more fabric to coordinate. The quilt looks like a fun jumble.

The sample on the booklet looks very busy, it does need some solids for your eyes to rest (so says Bonnie Hunter). Which blocks do you think should be the solids?

We say in our house that we are having a "going away party", meaning that everything has to go out of the fridge, the garage, or my scrap collection. Enjoy the journey.

It is definitely a "clean out the fridge" project... I have been a little picky putting similar fabrics next to each other but it is totally a scrappy delight that uses even the smallest of scraps for some of the blocks
