I came across 2 antique/vintage machines in pretty rough shape. One was well over 100 years old, a Singer treadle. It's cabinet appeared to have been sitting outside for some time with cracking of the wood (solid) both outside and even inside the drawers. The other was an early electric American Standard that appeared to have been sitting outside for a while at least. It's cabinet was fairly rough, but the machine didn't look too bad, and the original cord was still intact. Does anyone have any suggestions about evaluating whether or not a machine is worth fixing? I hate to see these end up in a landfill.

Go to the machine shop that Billy and Charlee run. They will be able to help I think.

I guess it just depends on how much work you want to put into them. You could, with a lot of time, patience and elbow grease restore them to their original glory and have some real show pieces. Pm Lostn51, Billy knows everything about restoring old machines. Or at least it seems like he does. If there's something he doesn't know about it it's probably not important anyway.
