I'm making a handprint quilt with my daughter's preschool class. Did all the cute little handprints today with fabric paint on white muslin - so sweet! Anyhow, I plan to make them into wonky log cabin blocks with generous borders/sashing/logs whatever of the cute "make life" fabric by moda (imprinted with various "make life xxx" phrases), inspired by a pic I found on flickr. I ordered the fabric - gray/brown text on white. Then today I realized it comes in a multicolored version - even better looking! But that would mean buying 2 more yards, and my DH is sure to think I'm nuts! Would you buy the second colorway?

Yes!!! You'll use the other for something else, and if not, you can share with someone else or you could sell it on eBay.

I'd buy three yards just to be safe!

Jim's Gem 04-14-2010 02:24 PM

Yes!!!!

Oh yes! The multi-color is so preschool.

I'm assuming this is a rhetorical question.

Better question - why wouldn't you buy it? You like it better, so will be happier with the finished quilt.

IrishNY 04-14-2010 03:32 PM

Of course!

Actually, if you don't, you will ruin the time you spend working on it and your enjoyment when it's done by thinking "it would have looked better in the other fabric". Don't do that to yourself.

DUH! Of course you purchase the second color. And yes you buy as much as you can. You need extra fabric and more colors to keep the creative juices flowing toward the next quilt. LOL

I concur!

athenagwis 04-14-2010 04:03 PM

I know I know!! You can send me the grey brown version and tell hubby you "lost" it and had to buy more ..... :D

I agree :D

MegsAnn 04-15-2010 12:14 AM

I vote YES

brushandthimble 04-15-2010 05:22 AM

You could always use the first one in the backing. If it is to small just add other pieces to it for a pieced and interesting backing.

Who will have the finished quilt? We want to see pictures!!

Oklahoma Suzie 04-15-2010 05:55 AM

yes I would buy the other one.

littlehud 04-15-2010 07:24 AM

Oh my goodness yes. If you don't you will always be thinking it would have been cuter with the other fabric.

fktsewing 04-15-2010 08:03 AM

why not use the gray/brown text on white for the back of the quilt. I would definitely go with the multicolored on the front.

katei 04-15-2010 01:25 PM

Go on - you know you want to!!

zz-pd 04-15-2010 03:44 PM

If I had money, I sure would, you could do so much with fabric like that. Penny

I second that!

Quilting Nana 04-15-2010 04:22 PM

Buy more material????? Let me think about that.......... I would say yes. If you don't you will not be happy with the quilt.
Go for it.

yourstrulyquilts 04-15-2010 05:08 PM

Of course!! :D

Sheila Elaine 04-15-2010 07:53 PM

Go for it, grow your stash & your stash will hold the first fabrics until the right project comes along. Show us when you get the handprints quilts made.

penski 04-16-2010 09:07 PM

keep this word in the back of your mind " stash "

mbunny 04-16-2010 09:10 PM

Y'all are such enablers! I ordered it, of course. Finally finished the baby quilt I've been working on, so next up is finishing the April doll quilt, putting up some sort of design wall, then on to the school quilt.
