I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. What questions do I need to ask other than the bobbin cover, cord???? He wants $30- was his MIL.

joyce j 07-14-2012 04:11 AM

BUY IT, $30 is a great price at least for my area! Is there a bobbin with it?? The ladies over at the Vintage and Antique Machine MB are great and will be able to help you with anything you need.

Quiltngolfer 07-14-2012 05:20 AM

It's a beauty! I would buy it if I had a place for it.

Greenheron 07-14-2012 05:49 AM

Deborahlees 07-14-2012 07:12 AM

Buy it hands down....now....do not pass go.....and smile all the way home !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jlm5419 07-14-2012 07:44 AM

Absolutely! The price is right, it's a good looking machine, and accessories are not hard to find. That is, of course, if I were in the market for a Red Eye.

CoyoteQuilts 07-14-2012 07:49 AM

Great price, pretty machine... I'd grab it fast!

Sandra in Minnesota 07-14-2012 11:44 AM

Like everyone said, grab it and go!

Havplenty 07-14-2012 02:07 PM

if you like vintage machines that is a great price. the people over in the vintage machine thread should be able to answer any questions you have as i know several of them have singer red eyes.

btw, the decals on this machine look great.

hobo2000 07-16-2012 02:04 PM

I have a 1918 that my grandmother recd. as a wedding gift from my grandad. It sews like a dream. That is not the original cabinet, but it looks good and fits. Later you may find a lonesome cabinet for it and make it whole. I know you will find great enjoyment out of her.

Nagi 07-16-2012 08:52 PM

Buy it! If it was me instead of you I will buy it.

lfw045 07-17-2012 08:24 AM

The price is definitely right! Go for it!

DawnFurlong 07-17-2012 08:30 AM

Yes!!! Great price, has the cabinet, there is a lot of help out there for fixing her up (if she needs any fixing). Pretty machine.

JMCDA 07-17-2012 08:47 AM

I would drive all the way down there to get a Red Eye for that price!

quiltjoey 07-17-2012 06:31 PM

Oh, yeah!!!

pollyjvan9 07-18-2012 04:50 AM

In a heartbeat!

Annaquilts 07-18-2012 04:55 AM

$30 seems fair for this machine. Does it run? It has no reverse. Even if it does not run you can put a new potted motor on it or put a hand crank on it. You can buy new hand cranks on line.

Well... after reading the posts here and the post about Featherweight vs Red Eye, I decided to pass on this one and look for a 15-91.

1000projects 09-10-2012 05:44 PM

Not sure where you are in PA, but I got TWO red eyes this summer. I paid $20. I love my 15-91 so much, though, I did a hand crank conversion (for fun!) and resold it.

thepolyparrot 09-10-2012 06:06 PM

I'd pay way more than that for a Red Eye with decals in that good a condition! Grab it up! :)

HilaryK8 09-10-2012 06:11 PM

OMG I would buy it in a heart beat! I've always always wanted one!!! And that one is so beautiful!!! If you don't buy it I WILL!!!! I'm in MD. :)

nygal 09-11-2012 01:20 AM

I would have owned it by now if I saw it.

deedum 09-11-2012 03:36 AM

Sure would buy it!

NJ Quilter 09-11-2012 03:42 AM

I paid $50 for mine a few months back and this looks to be in a bit better shape. Still working on mine. Have been distracted this summer. Mine runs but needs a good cleaning; oiling; and some de-rusting on the tension mechanism - or I'll just replace that. And I have my g'grandmother's table to put her into one of these days.
