I have a 99 & enjoy sewing on it. When I get frustrated with the computer one I turn to her. She runs no matter what!

I'm no expert but I've seen this model for a lot less (lately $25 to $65) and in much better condition.
|
Yep, a model 99 is definitely NOT a Featherweight.
|
I'd grab it, Singer claims these are "antique" and I feel there's nothing new that can beat these old machines in stitching. Enjoy.

Absolutely! 99's are work horses. They will even sew leather. I good friend of the family gave me her 1955 and it is unbeatable for heavy sewing.

That machine is called a dome top, I have three of them, For many years that is all I had and it did not reverse, I turned the material around to sew backwards at the end of sewing , I love it They are not full size and are heavy but are real workhorses , mine has the shuttle bobbin ,Not the round one,Keep her oiled and clean of lint and she will work her heart out for you, Go for it ,

That is not a featherweight, they ony weigh about 11lbs, the 99 is a good machine but it is a heavy dude.
|
Talk them down on the price because you will have to redo the electrical on it and it needs a cleaning somthin aweful!

I have a 1931 Singer 99 and it sews beautifully! When I bought it
there was a 220 volt motor on it, no foot pedal or cord. Its in such good condition because of this I think. My grand daughters love sewing with this machine, they are 7 and 9. Sharon W. in Texas Singer 99K |
