Their corner booth at Paducah was the most fun of all the booths, and their products are new and exciting. They are starting their own quilt show in Pensecola!

gaigai 09-11-2010 06:45 AM

So Paducah doesn't want them back? That sucks. I am dying to get their mat and ruler. But right now I don't even have a sewing machine any more, so that has to wait.

sahm4605 09-11-2010 06:46 AM

I saw them out here in MO at the quilt show in april? their binding tool was awsome. want to get me those clips.

stefanib123 09-11-2010 06:48 AM

So, they don't want them back because they are too "fun"! Because their booth attracts too much crowd and causes "flow" problems?

I would think those would be good things for a show.

BellaBoo 09-11-2010 06:58 AM

From the schedule looks like only AQS shows are the party poopers. I don't get it, their booth was always in the back corner at Paducah, lots of room and the people in the booth were doing demos constantly. They were energetic and never slowed down showing how their products worked. They were the hardest working reps at the whole show!

BellaBoo 09-11-2010 07:02 AM

I have the binding tool and clips. I thought why did I buy this after I got home but now it's the only thing I use for holding my binding in place. I have used the same clips for almost two years and they still fit like new. I got the small size.

MaryStoaks 09-11-2010 07:55 AM

That's a shame!

dkabasketlady 09-11-2010 08:10 AM

The quilt shows are the ones losing out on this decision!!!

Martelli Enterprises is coming to Pine Belt Quilters 13th Biennial Fiber Art & Quilt Show in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, October 8-10, 2010.

We will have more than 400 quilts on display plus one of the Hoffman Challenge traveling exhibits.

Why don't you come down South and see us?

They should have adapted the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". With the news of this going around, makes me wonder what the next show will be like...if attendance would be up or down. Darn shame

cindyg19 09-11-2010 09:16 AM

I've purchased quite a bit from them at various shows. Their demonstrations are very helpful.

cindyg19 09-11-2010 09:17 AM

That I haven't seen. What clip??
I'm assuming they will be at the World Quilt in Palm Beach FL in November. I'd like to look at it.

BellaBoo 09-11-2010 09:20 AM

I like Hattiesburg, it'a beautiful city, but it's too close to Beaumont the worst town I have ever been to in my life. Sorry but that town gave me the creeps.

Sorry about Beaumont.

About Martelli: I would bet the complaints came from the other vendors.

I'm about 25 miles South of LR. :-D

Well, if it is only AQS shows, maybe we should all start writing to AQS protesting that Martelli won't be there anymore. If enough of us write, it may make a difference.

OMG. I just watched the kwik spin thread dispenser video and it looks awesome but is it really $150.

Jim's Gem 09-11-2010 03:09 PM

Glad to see that they will still be at the shows here in California that I attend!!

Rosyhf 09-11-2010 05:12 PM

I have had the quick ..binding kit for years...the clips in different sizes, the thingy that attaches to the machine to guide the binding and the curve master. I don't think I payed what it cost now. I also got the dvd's that came with the stuff.

Yeh that's the price. I think I could make a very small lazy susan, the part with the bearings...you can buy these any size and jury rig one up.

They're going to be in Chantilly, Va 9/30-10/2 at the Origiinal Sewing & Quilt and Expo, not an APQS show.

quiltingmimipj 09-12-2010 09:26 AM

Did you look on their web site at the work tables? I couldn't believe how much they cost.

Cool :D
Did not know about this show. If my wife and I can get off work we will be coming down to the show!! See how dangerous this board can be!!!

bodacia 08-15-2011 10:50 AM

Know this is an old thread, but just thought I'd let you all know that Martelli is making their debut on HSN (Home Shopping Network) Thursday, August 18th!

You can 'friend' them on their Facebook page (Martelli Quilting Fan Club) or get more information on the Martelli Notions website. Now you don't have to go to the quilt show to see them demonstrate the products!

BellaBoo 08-15-2011 11:08 AM

I did a lot of talking to other vendors this last time in Paducah. Seem the martelli guys were over stepping their bounds big time. They knocked over a booth next to them when they stared dancing and acting up and thought it was hilarious. They were making inappropriate statements to the tune of they could charm any little old quilter to buy from them and had contests between them to see who could reel in more grannies. They only hired young good looking guys to vend just to charm the ladies. I heard this from many of the show vendors who were appalled at their actions. The vendors will give you the straight story. I also heard a lot of venting about the show's other problems but that's for another post. LOL.

bodacia 08-15-2011 11:26 AM

Urgh. Not a good reflection on them.... I think the owner would have been appalled.

cmw0829 08-15-2011 12:10 PM

The link wouldn't work with .asp at the end but I found Trade Shows link on the website with a .htm link.

What am I missing about the drama? :)
