And I was surprised that I still had it in me!!
I have been messing around with the sewing machines so much that I have not had a chance to even work on a quilt. But today after all of the turmoil I had to endure with Lola and the Vet I needed to take some time off and unwind. Just so happens Lola (my Chihuahua) loves my quilts so since we found out about her Congestive Heart Failure and me being terrified that I was going to lose her I decided to make her very own quilt. That way when she has to go to the vets office she will be a little more relaxed and if they have to keep her there for more test she will have something that will comfort her. It is going to be a little bigger than a baby quilt with a medium loft poly batting but in colors that she likes. But it felt so good to sit in my studio debating on which of my machines I wanted to toss in the treadle to make it with!!! Billy |
Sorry to hear about your little baby being sick Billy. Glad she is doing better.
What a nice idea making her her own quilt! I'm sure it will comfort her a lot! What is her favorite colors by the way? It's funny how attached with get to our furry little babies. My baby is sitting on my lap right now. Purring up a storm. I haven't made him his own quilt yet, but he borrows all the rest. He does have his own bed which has a fuzzy lining and his cardboard box of course! It must be nice to have a workshop like yours!  to have all your machines around you. Mine are all over the house. I hope to get back to sewing tomorrow as it's been a whole week since I've sewn. Take care of your baby and the rest of the family! Happy Quilting! |
Sorry to hear about your quilt inspector being sick. Your baby will definitely LOVE having her own quilt. Don't forget to post pics of Lola on her quilt giving her approval of what Daddy made for her!!
|
Jan my baby is sitting in my lap right now in the LazyBoy with my lap quilt tossed over us and she is snuggled right in with the best of them.
But her favorite colors are maroon/wine colors and tans. She is a fawn color so it blends right on in with those colors. I was really amazed that I was having a problem picking a machine to use. I almost went with my Singer 27 because it has been a while since I used it and I love the sounds that a VS machine makes in a treadle. But I should be about finished with it tomorrow and I will post photos of it, with the baby on it!! Billy |
So sorry to hear about your pup. I know Lola will find comfort with one of your handmade quilts. Spoil her rotten. Pets give us so much.

Can't wait to see the baby and the quilt!
|
I am so sorry to here your baby is not well. We have a chudle 1/2poodle and chihuahua and it is amazing how they become a part of you. She is like are child. Her name is doodle bug and she loves the quilts I make for her and she drags them all over the house to lay on. Lola will love hers to. I have to make one a year since she loves them to death. I wish her well. Glenn

Cant wait to see pictures of Lola with her new quilt!
|
Awww poor Lola :( I bet she perks right up with her own brand new quilt  :D:D:D
|
Billy, please don't let Lola tell Tink about her new quilt! Tink will get her little nose out of joint and need another quilt. The one she has now is getting old, by her standards...you should see the way she moves it to where she wants it...
|
I think she will be happy with it. Since it is one that I am putting together pretty quickly it will be something simple but she will like it I hope!
I promise to show pictures of it for everyone to see her on it . Billy |
I hope all is well with your baby. I can't wait to see the quilt. It will be so nice to have something that smells like home if she has to go to the vet.
|
Ok...I want to know how you know her favorite colors!!
Glad to hear she's doing better... Jake's not having a good day today...Chip waylaid him last nite and Jake's leg is hurting...poor baby.. :( |
That's something to hear about! I recently had to go out of town and took our 16 yr old small dog and during the nite, she kept nosing around,,wouldn't go to sleep...finally figured out that she was missing her "quilt" that i made for her to sleep on!! Now I know the "quilt" has to go with us if we are to be gone overnite. LOL...but hope Lola the best of health.

I hope your dog gets well. My dear MAtti( Cairn terrier) had ato be put down a couple weeks ago and the house seems to empty without her. She was the sweetest dog in the world, never met a stranger and thought anyone coming to the house was coming to see her. She greeted family at the door with a grin, really a grin! Matti was 17 years old, my baby all the way/

Thank goodness YOU asked that question, Charlee :) I was sort of scared to ;)

Well it is finished!!! And I am exhausted from being up for the last several nites taking her out to pee every hour or so. She is taking diuretics so she can loose the fluid. And the fact that I have been at my treadle all day sewing and quilting away!! But it sure felt good to be using my machines for something other than to look at.
But she is just happy as ever in her new quilt and is snuggled in an relaxed. I think she likes it......and I think she can feel the love put in the quilt from me using my treadle. So here she is....... Lola in her quilt "I can feel my Daddy's Love" |
Your baby looks very happy with her new quilt. Nice quilt. Is she getting better? Glenn
|
Awwww!!!!
|
Yes she is acting like she feels better, we have to take her to the vet tomorrow morning so we will know more about how the progress is going. But she is almost finished with her antibiotics and still on the diuretic, heart pills (will be taking them for the rest of her life).
But she is just tickled to have it you can tell she is happy. So now she will have something that she can feel her Daddy's love wrapped around her if she has to stay at the vets for test. Billy |
She looks very happy to be wrapped up in a big hug from her Daddy...The quilt is very nice and she really appreciates it...
|
Awwww.Sorry your puppy is sick. I am making my chi a quilt this week if I can.
Lola looks like she approves of her daddy's quilt making lol. She looks like a Chi we had years ago. He live to the age of 22 and my husband is still not over him. Dogs have a way of adding something to your life. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Hope Lola gets the treatment she needs and that her prognosis is good |
She is a cute little thing isnt she?
Its just hard to believe I was digging a hole for her almost a week ago and had the materials to make her coffin. This has been the most trying week, and me making this quilt has really helped me a lot. But 30 four patch blocks were not the most fun to make I will say that and I need to wax my machine and table in the worse sort of way so that my material slides easier. I had the hardest time with the meandering around the border. Billy |
Oh Billy, I hope Lola is alright. And I'm glad you got back to sewing. That quilt will comfort her indeed. Please show us when you are done, I will be watching for it.
|
Carol, my cat Bobbie( Roberta ) is also 17 years old, until this week she was always outside but with it being cold she found her way into my sewing room and is now sleeping on a new carpet square under the spare chair, out of my way and feet. She does not want to move so I had to take her out to the water thinking she will get dehydrated if she didn't drink. I don't think she has eaten anything either. I will try her out later to see if she is alright and just cold.

Thank you Billy. I did get her to drink a little water today but everything else she won't touch. Hopefully it is only a cold and being in a warm house will soon have her well again. she has moved herself "out of foot range" so I wont stand on her by accident, smart girl. Thank you for your prayers for her recovery.
|
Billy and Annya, I hope your pets are OK.
We live near a Chihuahua rescue place, and the guy that walks the rescue dog is huge, it looks so cute. They resocialise them and find new homes for them. Mr 7 is desperate to have one, but we have no fences ATM. Every time he asks for a new toy, I say, No, we have to save up for a new fence so you can get a pet. |
That is funny. we have part of a fence and every now and again DH suggests a dog. We live on a busy highway and I say no! too messy an animal and no where to keep it safe also rouge dogs are all around us, so not worth the hassle.
|
OMG Billy!!!! They are both amazing!! You did a fantastic job! You know she's got to feel the love I'm speachless, and that's rare, lol! Fantastic
|
It had been been a few days now and my cat is still not eating or drinking at all.She stinks because she wont clean herself. I am worried about her as we are going away tomorrow for 2days. She is wrapped up in an old fleecy sheet out in the toilet because of the stink and because of our trip. when we get back , she is going to the doctor hopefully they can do some thing for her.
|
Billy, Lola's quilt looks great on her! Continued prayers for her, and you, that you can get some sleep!
|
Billy, Lola looks adorable and so comfy in her new quilt. She is soaking up the love you put into it by the looks of her.
|
What a precious little baby ! Looks like she is a cuddler and pretty sure you don't mind a bit. Enjoy and good luck with lola.
