What batting do you use for a quillow? I used fusible for my GD's quillow and put on a flannel back. It is so darn thick that it is hard to fit back into its pillow and I know the pllow is eventually going to rip from all the tugging. She loves the quillow and it is really soft, but I think it would have been better to use a different batting. For my next quillow, what batting would do a better job?

I don't use batting in quillows. I just quilt the top to fleece backing. My grandkids all love them. They say they're warm and easy to wrap up in.
I've made a couple extra long (my SILs are both 6'4" ) couch quilts for my DDs and SILs using just a top and fleece backing too. They love them that way. The traditional quilts with top, batting and backing all stay on the beds. |

A thin cotton batting like warm and natural will work too. There isn't much loft and it folds nicely in quillows :D:D:D

thanks for this great information

Maybe you could make the pillow part larger so it won't get so stressed?

I use warm and natural in mine. A few were very flimsy so I made a separate cushion insert. Now my children have a quillow and cushion all in one.

I used flannel top/bottom 2-1/2 yds each side. Cotton batting. My pillow cover square is about 20-1/2 inches.
When my feet are hanging off of the footrest, they fit nicely in the 'pillow' and I can even cross my ankles - doesn't get any better than this on a cold evening watching tv!! |
I used the Poly batting because everyone wanted the soft fully feeling and then I tied it. BUUUT sure wish I had of thought about fleese they would have loved that. I really didn't have any trouble with the batting though.
