y-seams

I hope someone can help me with this problem...I'm trying to make a star block per Edyta Sitar's instructions. She is a wonderful teacher and I thought that her instructions were pretty
straight forward, but I just can't get my block to lie flat. I don't have time right now to post a picture, but hopefully someone can give me some advice? Thanks so much, Gina

It is hard to give advice without a photo. You have to be so precise with y seams. I would check your seams with a ruler and see if they are off just a tiny bit. Doesn't take much to be off and your quilt won't lay flat.

I'm not sure of the instruction you're using but this video is the one I used when learning to do y-seams. Its a little long but really informative.

I put a dot on the 1/4 inch intersections on at seams. I then match up the dots making sure to stop sewing right on it.

I speak from experience when I say, practice, practice, practice! It does get easier, I promise! Good luck with your star blocks.

Thank you so much for the link. I really like Sharon Schamber, and I've bookmarked this video. She does her star differently than Edyta Sitar, and I'm going to try it her way.
