"Y" Seams
 

Can anyone guide me to the instruction for "Y" seams.
I watch a video and it was as thick as mud for me.
Does anyone have any insight, help or tips.

Draw a scant 1/4" seam line down the two seams. Where they cross is where you do needle down and pivot. then get next seam together and sew down. If the seams keep slipping glue them together lightly. Once you done a few they become easier.

Gyleen Fitzgerald has a wonderful method of Y seams. You sew all three pieces all the way to he edge, then you pick out stitches hat are past the point of the intersection,

I try to avoid them. :)

They're really not that hard once you get the hang of it. I'm machine piecing a gfg. If I couldn't do y seams I would not ever be able to make one. I think half square triangles are more difficult to get right.

Stopping 1/4" from the edge is most important. I also backstitch a couple stitches to secure that area so that I get a good crisp point.

I just worked on a diamond logcabin pattern where all the blocks are put together with "Y" seams. I always stayed away from them but then I watched Jinny Beyer's video on them plus I marked my 1/4" at all ends so they matched up and now I have the body of my quilt done. I now have a respect for "Y" seams. Still don't like them but not afraid of them anymore either.
