Just a rough guestimate... a fat quarter is just a bit larger than a block... decide on the ratio of each color in the block. Say the block is 3 colors & the background color is 1/2 of the block & the other 2 colors are 1/4 each. So you're making 12 blocks... I would guess the background fabric to be approximately 6 ft qtrs or 1.5yd. The other two fabrics would be approx 3/4yds ea. Then you need to add fabric for sashing & boarders. This is all rough on the spot guestimate... then I get 1/4 - 1/2yd extra just in case.

I am glad that I am not the only one that has trouble figuring out how much material to use need. I always have to go back for more. Will use the calculator that someone posted and see how that works. Tired of wondering if I have enough material all the time.

That was a great quilt block yardage site.
Thank you
I have Electric Quilt 6 and use it mainly for laying out my blocks in the layout tab, color each section, and then pull up the fabric yardage tab. Then of corse I add to that since I am not hte greatest cutter.
But I do like that site posted for thos blocks I can't find in EQ.
Also, is anyone out there updating to the EQ7? Would like opinions.
Thanks
Karen

I would love to have EQ7 but it is just not in the budget right now. I have Quilt Design Wizard by EQ, which is fun, but I quickly outgrew it.
