yellow spots
I read about getting yellow spots out of quilts never paid much attention because I never get a DEAL at garage sales well today was my lucky day went to a garage sale and got a full size all hand sewed quilt in reds and white squares old but can't tell how old anyways got it for $5.00 it has a few yellow spots no holes in it very good condition how do I get the yellow spots out. Also got 9 yards black cotton material 58" wide-2 yds of Valori Wells material-3 yds of Marcus Brothers-6 yards Debbie Mumm-4 yards of Debbie Mumm and 4 yards of South Sea Imports are you ready for this $1.00 a yard getting ready to wash it now I was so excited I always hear on the board how people get deals but I never get ones well today I did and can you believe it was the first garage sale I went to all year I will post picture after I get my quilt washed (doing happy dance)

GreT for you. I went to one roday...got wooden spools, which i collect,some pretty hankies pinking shears, scissors, a bazillion hand and ma hine needles, ancient buttons and about ten feet for it looks like singers.also, two ruffle feet. Ill prob. Sell one. Good stash builder i paid $5.

If the yellow spots are on white, you can use a q tip with bleach and rub the spots before you wash it. That works for me.

I don't know how the red would hold up... BUT I have AMAZING results getting whites spotless using Oxyclean. I just did a pair of white stretch pants that I came across in my cleaning frenzy that had heaven only knows all over them. Really dingy, brown areas, thought, "before I toss these in the trash"... so glad I did

I would not use straight bleach as it will burn a hole in the fabric. But if you dilute the bleach(don't know how much) and rinse immediately with plenty of water it should work. |

I'm keeping an eye on this one too...I just got an old family quilt from my husbands Aunt in Kansas, no idea how old it is and no labels (bummer), but it has yellowed also and when we get back home I need to try and gently clean it. The fabric still seems pretty sturdy, but I want to go slowly. No telling when it was last laundered, but I'm excited to see if it comes clean!
