Yet Another FMQ Question
Wouldn't FMQ be a whole lot easier with an adjustable presser foot?
I just can't do it on my little Singer 9022. I've tried taping a card on or using the feed dog cover and it's just too tight. I'm simply not strong enough to manage it. Will having an adjustable presser foot help? My new machine will have it... |
I'm assuming that when you say too tight, the foot is too tight against the sandwich so you can't move it easily. If there's a feed dog cover, there must be a way to use the machine to free stitch. Look in your manual and see if there's something about darning, or free embellishment or embroidery. See if there's a darning foot available. That would help.

I like a hopping foot for mine. Have you checked to see if your machine has an adjusting knob to lower the presser foot pressure? It's usually on top of the machine on the needle end. I lower mine all the way for FMQ.

For free motion quilting you need a hopping foot ( sometimes called a darning foot for older machines)
