For boys, I would do QAYG STARs so that they would know they are stars in my life...There is a cute pink one, if it were girls, on this site as well.

There is a super simple pattern called stretched stars. I found it in a Georgia Bonesteel book and looks stunning when put together. I used it for my GS and used all kinds of prints a boy would be interested in, then cornered it with bright red with white stars print. You really don't need to have a pattern. Cut desired size squares, cut 2 triangles for each square of the accent fabric. Sew the triangles on two corners diagonally from each other, ie, top right and bottom left. I didn't trim the background of the square so that the blocks would be stable. When you put them together the effect is like "stretched stars.

What a about the tumbling block; it would be great for what you are saying. Some one did one on here for kids with civil way fabric and appliqued a rocking horse on it. It's versitile.

Wow! Thanks for all your suggestions. After looking at all of them, I think I'll go with the 10 min. block. Those are certainly simple enough for even me.... I hope. :)

Tks again.
