Thanks to all the good advise I got from all of you, I have made a deal to get a Bernina 440QE. Here's the scoop. I went to Hancock Fabric and talked to the Bernina dealer. They have a 2010 floor model. We made a deal to get the machine including the BSR and the optional 24/24 table for $2950.00. Do you think that is a good price? Didn't get the embr. mod since I have an embroidary machine. Let me know. Thanks :P

I'm not sure what you mean by a 24/24 table.

Typically, the 440 comes with the BSR and the embroidery module, and I think it runs around $4k... the embroidery module retails for $900 I think, so you'll need to clarify what the 24/24 table is before we can say if you got a good deal or not.

But either way, the 440 rocks, it's an awesome little machine! Enjoy!

The 24X24 table is an option that is $150. It attaches on the machine and gives support for the quilt.

The price sounds in the ballpark. I bought my machine a year ago (and I LOVE IT!!!) and I know it was somewhere around that amount and I didn't get the extension table until later.

well I guess the prices have gone up some since I bought mine in dec 2005. I bought the machine and then bsr and the emb module all for 3000.00. I did not get the 24 x 24 table tho. I think I would check around some more.

Don't know about the price, since I am in Ireland, but you got a good machine that will outlast a lot of the others on the market. Congratulations!

Oh okay you're talking about the acrylic table.
Then NO, you're not getting much of a deal, that's pretty much full retail, they've simply eliminated the embroidery module to bring the price down a grand.

Lucky you!

Don't fret over if you got a good deal or not. If it was the price you felt was a good one then that's all that matters. Not matter what you buy there would have been a better deal somewhere else but once you track down that better deal it usually doesn't play out and there you are all frazzled and with no new machine. You will love your new machine. Congratulations!

You bought it and you love it, that's always a good deal. Have fun!

I agree, if this machine makes you happy, and it doesn't sound like you are paying more than what it is worth, don't worry and just enjoy it.

AND since you are buying it locally, you can get questions answered and help too if needed :D:D:D

Enjoy your new machine. A good price, makes you happy and it will keep on going. Your blessing will bless others. Have fun with it.

I have this machine and LOVE IT! I also have the table and it is really nice. You will LOVE IT! I will tell you when I got it, it was more than what you paid retail so feel good about your purchase! :)

HAPPY QUILTING and congrats....PS....take the getting to know your Bernina class if you haven't had one. The biggest thing I learned....you can do the needle up/down from the foot pedal! :P

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice. I really do appreciate it.

The moderator on another quilt site on line paid more than you did,

I also bought one for my retirement. Price was a little less but it was a few years ago. I love it and keep buying more tricky feet.
