YIPEE Going on retreat
 

I am so excited. I leave tomorrow for a 3 day quilting retreat with 6 friends from my beelet. We are going to Danville, Illinois to the retreat center. No phones (I take mine but everyone knows not to call unless an emergency), no distractions, JUST QUILTING AND FRIENDS. I am taking 3 quilts to work on as I don't know what I want to work on. You know we always take too much with us. Isn't it great? Just had to post this as i am so excited. Thanks for listening.

Quilting and Friends, a bit of heaven!!! Sounds lovely, enjoy the retreat!!!

Enjoy your retreat. Just came back from one on Thursday that started on Monday. Had an awesome time sewing, visiting, and eating with friends. Fee included all our meals. They rang a bell and we sat down to eat, then we just left the table. No muss, no fuss. Also have a massage therapist one night for those interest in a massage. Had to pay extra for a massage, but it was so worth it. Even had a couple of puzzles to work on if you got tired of sitting at the machine.

I am green with envy, I have never been on one but I hear they are a lot of fun.And you actually get some quilting done. Have a grand time.

You will have the time of your life!! I have been on a couple but its been awhile. You will bring home so many happy and fun memories. Don't forget to take pictures. Enjoy!!!!

I returned from there a few hours ago. Me and 2 friends were there from Thursday afternoon till today. We attended a 2 day free motion quilting class and stayed an extra night. It was great and the atmosphere was beyond anything I expected. It was my first time there and I look forward to going again. I didn't know a place like that existed. Loved it. There is nothing like quilting with friends away from distractions.

I just got back from a quilt retreat as well. We went on Thursday morning until Sunday morning and it's so much fun. We have about 17 ladies that go two times per year and it is great fun every time. Hope you had as much fun as I did!!

I have one planned in April. It's in my hometown :-( I live in a tiny community and when our regular place fell through, the gals came to my town because of the new wood building we have for activities. It has private bedrooms and two great rooms with floor to ceiling windows. It's beautiful, but it's not the same for me now that it's 5 blocks from my house. I don't spend the night any more and some times I don't even eat there. I'm not going this time because it's been 2 years since I've been to one and (I know what you are thinking) I have gained a lot of weight and I don't want the gals to see me like this. I know they will be nice, but I will see shock in their faces and it will bother me. I'm don't think I'm vain, I'm just embarrassed. I am suppose to be on thyroid pills, but they give me horrible hot flashes (and I have them already) that I just can't take them. If I do, I have to have on the air conditioning at 60 degrees and wear a sleeveless nightgown and only use a sheet over part of my body. Maybe by next year, I'll feel better about myself and maybe be able to lose weight without the pills and then I'll go.
