Yippee yeah!!!

WOW! I got a call from YANKEE DUTCH QUILTING and DRY GOODS today, I won a $100 gift certificate!!! :) I was so surprised but so very pleased, am new to quilting and Mari was so supportive and encouraging to me on my new venture! If you haven't yet visited this neat little shop in Brownsville (Oregon) (I get the Texas questions all the time) do so, am sure you will enjoy it and meeting the people there. It is easy to find right on Hwy 228 across from the entrance to the city of Brownsville. We are so lucky to have the shop here in our small town. I will now have to pick out my next pattern and what a treat it will be to gather up the goods for the next adventure.

Happy quilting to all,
Antylu

If I am ever through Brownsville again I will check out the store. Haven't been by there for at least 40 years.

There is a nice antique show in August; big country show also sponsored by BiMart; summer Sat. Markets in a.m. and there are lots and lots of events all through the year. Look up Brownsville web site and you could info from there for what event might be of interest. Sincerely, Antylu

About 25 miles south of Albany and 4 miles east of I-5. Located on Hwy 228, it is a scenic route called "Over the Trails and Through the Woods" on way to Sweet Home.

Noticed your location, am formerly from Curtis, MI. We have dear friends, the Kinnears who live in Sault Ste. Marie, we will be back there in May to visit the U.P.

dunster 03-20-2012 09:01 AM

Thanks for posting about this. I was so sad when the other shop in Brownsville closed. I had heard that a new one had opened in a different location, but haven't had a chance to go there yet. Since we live so close, I hope we can meet someday. And to add to the happy coincidences this morning, I've been reading a series of books set in the U.P. I've never been there, but have been thinking that I would like to see that part of the country. (But not in the freezing winter months, which I understand number approximately 8.)

RE: U.P.---Apparently not this year! Just got email from girlfriend and it is 78 today and expect 80 tomorrow and they have been having mild weather all winter (but yes, my memory is of long winters!) Yes, it is very beautiful, I would suggest doing a fall trip, the colors are gorgeous and most of the pesky bugs are gone; from spring on it seems there is a bug for every letter of the alphabet and Alaska has nothing over on the mosquitos!

jeanneb52 03-21-2012 04:33 AM

Goodie goodie for you! Half the fun of a gift card or certificate is trying to figure out how to spend it.

Congrats! Looking forward to seeing what you get to create

Congratulations!!!!

donnaree59 03-21-2012 05:39 AM

That is so wonderful! Now wonder how long it will take you to decide on what you want? I won a $10 gift certificate once on Fab Shop Hop and it took me HOURS to see what I wanted. I bet I spend that $10 50 times before I actually ORDERED what I did. FUN, FUN, FUN!

Congrats on your win!

I'm going to have to make that 15 minute drive to Brownsville and check it out. I love Linn County History Museum so I could make it a double trip. I don't think i've seen the shop on the way through town, but have heard good things about them. If I don't make it soon, i'll stop by in August on the way to the Willamette Country Music Festival. Brownsville is a beautiful little historic town. If you've never been there you should visit.

Congratulations on your win. I had the chance to visit the shop in February during the Winter Shop Hop. A very cute shop and very friendly. Enjoyed brousing though the shop. I also won a $50 gift certificate during this Hop from Quilters Corner in Milwaukie, Oregon. Another small friendly shop.

Thanks all of you for your congrats and correspondence, tomorrow am going in to visit Yankee Dutch and pick up cert. It is fun to see that others have won in LQS too! We do need to support these hard working small businesses, I can't even imagine how hard it is too keep going in a small town in this economy. We appreciate all of you LQS! I am new to quilting and rounding up the materials for the project I am now working on took in many small shops and they were all so enthused and supportive! A couple of the places I didn't even purchase fabric but they still were very interested in my project and helpful and want to see the finished product. I truly believe LQS are a very important part of the quilting community from what I have seen! Thanks to all. Happy Quilting! Antylu
