I gave a presentation in Pearsall, Texas (about an hour away from San Antonio) earlier this month on how to dry brush ceramics and on a whim stopped by the Creative Sewing Center when I got back in town to look at their sale fabrics. I was talking to one of the ladies as we were madly sorting through the fabrics and it turned out it was Bebe from the message board!

What a great surprise it was and so nice to finally put a face to her name.

I love it when things happen like that.
A friend of mine was standing in a line one day. She struck up a conversation with the lady behind her. They started chatting about different things and lo and behold, she was talking to another friend of mine. They started talking about sewing/quilting and were describing to each other the quilts I had made.
Small world, huh?

I had given up on anybody to "talk quilts to" in person and ten I met someone on the board and lo and behold she lives in Raleigh too. We had a wonderful time at lunch and plan to do it a lot more!

I am hoping to meet Mamagus this summer as she lives about 3-4 hours from me. She said she is planning to come into the city the summer. It will be nice to meet up with her!

You guys are so lucky. I would love to meet you all in person. Wouldn't that be something? Some of my best memories are from quilting classes and trips with a group of ladies. Happy quilting! Jan

I have a small world story, but it's not a fellow quilter. When we moved to the Houston area, many years ago, and placed membership at our church, they asked new members to sit down with the elders and visit about what we would be interested in being involved in. When the elder's wife heard we were from Midland, she said she had a niece in the Midland/Odessa area (combined population about 250,000 people) and we might know her. I said I doubted it, but what was her name. When she told me I just died laughing because her niece was my mom and dad's next door neighbor in Rankin (a town of about 850 people and 60 miles from the Midland/Odessa area!). Her niece and I had a great chuckle about it over coffee the next time I was home visiting the folks. :)

In 1978, a loooong time ago, my Mother and Dad came to Magnolia,Arkansas for the christening of our youngest son. Mom and I went to Sunday Mass and I told her to look at this fellow and see if she recognized him becuse he looked very familar to me. It turned out the he was the son of Mom and Dad's backyard neighbor! The reason I did not know him personally was that he was quite a bit older than me, but apparently, I'd seen him enough for him to look familiar but just couldn't figure out who he was! Small world indeed!
