You know you are a quilter when your DH ask you; Do you want the shoes or the quilt? And your answer is the Quilt kit.

babeegirl 01-08-2009 08:01 AM

oh yeah! who needs shoes? they get in the way of the foot pedal!

Quilt4u, pm me your addy so I can send you some Kansas Troubles fabrics!

maggiebooboo 01-08-2009 08:04 AM

Funny, but my answer would be "BOTH!"

Maybe that is why I'm not married.. Hmm. :D

mamatobugboo 01-08-2009 08:06 AM

oh my , definitely QUILT!!! I love shoes, but I would chose the quilt kit/fabric/magazines/etc anyday!

mary quite contrary 01-08-2009 08:16 AM

That's funny. I have to make myself spend money on anything except fabric & chocolate!!!

Kara 01-08-2009 09:24 AM

...When you go for fabric, buy lots more than you went for (not wearing shoes because you would rather spend your money on fabric). Find yourself sneaking it into the house and stashing it somewhere while no one is looking and hiding the receipt...

Quilt4u 01-08-2009 09:27 AM

Done that too.

Barbm 01-08-2009 10:42 AM

...when you sit on the potty and admire the tile floor and think- that would make an awesome quilt!

he he- someday, gonna have a quilt labeled "my bathroom floor".

I was getting ready for work today and was looking at a pair of dowdy pants and realized- I have not bought a speck of clothes for work in 4 years! That dates to when I started this obsession! I never thought I would get over the need for the latest styles, but it worked! As I sit here in my 4 year old sweater and standard black dress pants.

(I do faithfully buy new undies every 6 month, have this fear if I were to die, someone has to clean out my underwear drawer and I don't want to be embarrassed)

LOL Barb!

How about you look at your clothes and think gee, one of these days I'm going to cut these pants up for scraps!

sewjoyce 01-08-2009 01:52 PM

LOL -- I think most of us would pick the quilt (or anything else that has to do with quilts)!!

And if you can still wear the same clothes after 4 years -- Woohoo! (I'm thinking weight gain here). And think of all that extra money you had for fabric. Think the clothes will make it 6 or 7 years????

Glad I'm not the only one!!!

Shemjo 01-08-2009 03:25 PM

I am retired and shop resale shops for my kahkis, but go to quilt shops for my fabric! Got my priorities straight! :D

sandpat 01-08-2009 04:29 PM

I'd have said "both and why are you being so silly and asking me that??"

2wheelwoman 01-08-2009 05:22 PM

You know you're a quilter when....

you and a friend go to second-hand stores and she's looking for things to wear and you're looking for things to cut up.

there's nothing in the fridge but the freezer is full of microwave meals

every outfit you wear is embellished by little snippits of thread

you can talk about 'fat quarters' and not care if somebody might think you're referring to a body part

HAHA. I was just thinking this week that when DH puts that shirt aside, I won't bring it to Goodwill. I'll cut it up. Oh, my I didn't realize how we quilters all think alike until I read the last few posts. Yep, we need to start having meetings. How many steps will we have to follow?

sandpat 01-09-2009 05:50 AM

when you notice as you are going out the door that your DH is covered in thread snippets..

mary quite contrary 01-09-2009 05:56 AM

I don't usually notice the thread on DH until we are sitting in church. LOL

joylavon 01-10-2009 07:04 AM

oh LOL ROFL...Ha hA HA...thanks I needed that.

dlf0122quilting 01-10-2009 10:36 AM

You know when you have had enough coffee while quilting if you can thread the machine while it is running.

GailG 01-10-2009 11:29 AM

Too much caffeine??? Threading the machine while it is running? You crack me up. Warn me the next time you want to send one like this, so I can put on my Depends.

bluebird 01-10-2009 01:36 PM

  After reading these posts.....will have to replace ALL my underwear, buy more material and chocolates. Forget shoes, never get out of house slippers or rubber boots :D

patsyo56721 01-10-2009 03:37 PM

sew_lulu 01-10-2009 04:13 PM

I have been a shoeholic all my life so you really pose a question. To answer...... When my hubby passed away, I cleaned out his dresser which left me with six empty drawers. Then I cleaned out my dresser and had three more. They are all full now with.....fabric. Thanks, honey.
