Can someone tell me whether there is an easier way to make an applique quilt than TRACING all the pieces. I'm making several blocks from McKenna Ryan's patterns & the most tedious part is tracing the patterns onto fusible interfacing. If that's the only way to do it, I will continue but if someone has a better way, I'd like to hear it!! Thanks!

Could you repost a link to a pic of your quilt that you entered?

Thanks!

Hi costumegirl! Thank you! I am not sure which quilt picture you wanted to see, so I'm posting links to them both. The bargello, Swish is the one I entered in the contest originally. The Stars quilt is the first Challenge round quilt I made. Here are the links.

Thank you! And I will! I've already PM'd Admin to make sure it's ok with them that I talk about this website at the meeting. I don't see why it wouldn't be, but I'd rather ask first and not end up sorry.

She had seen the article in the McCall's Quilting Magazine! And....Guess What!?!!!? She asked me if I would consider going to Joplin and be their guest speaker at their quilt guild meeting on Oct 19th!!!!! So, I am!!!

She said that she thinks I'd be a good inspiration to the quilters there and she would love to know what possessed me to enter a national competition, especially since I haven't quilted very long! Plus, she's amazed that I made my own pattern to sell too. I told her that the contest was recommended to me by a friend here on the quilting board. She also gets on here, but said she just reads it. She would like me to tell people about this website too, as it is great! I am going to ask Admin to make sure that it is alright. I don't see why it wouldn't be though.

Can you believe this??? I couldn't!!! I had to get on the phone and call all my friends and family to tell them. I'd just called to let them know that I made it to the next round the day before! I'm probably NOT going to like my phone bill next month! LOL I am also going to be compensated for coming!

So! How's that for some interesting news? Thanks for voting for me and all the support and positive feedback I get on here! I really appreciate it! Thanks too for listening!
Happy Quilting!
Marilyn

I haven't been on this baord long and don't really know anyone yet.But I am thrilled for you and rejoicing with you
CONGRATULATIONS

Thank you! It won't take you long and you'll know people on here. Everybody on here is sooo friendly and helpful. You are going to be really happy that you found this website. You can learn all kinds of stuff and if you have a problem with something, just post about it and someone will probably have your answer. A woman on here taught me how to oil my sewing machine. Enjoy the site and Welcome!!!

Congratulations on your success. You are an inspiration to everyone who wants to quilt. Support from this site is one of the greatest I've seen ever, but it starts with you and getting out of your comfort zone.

So glad to see that you are not backing down and you've set some goals. I am proud of you. Enjoy your new found hobby and post all your pics here. We would love to see your progress.

I, too have been quilting a little over 2 years and my quilts have gotten better with each quilt I make. My quilting has become part of me and I always want to challenge myself with intricate new patterns.

Enjoy your trip and fill us in when you get back.

JudeWill 10-09-2010 07:51 AM

That is awesome! I just looked at your quilt. It is beautiful! Is that one you made your own pattern for? Amazing accomplishment. Congratulations!

OzarksGma 10-09-2010 08:06 AM

What kind of applique quilt are you making? There are some other ways to do applique. Have you looked at some of Eleanor Burns quilts, she does a sew and turn with fusible interfacing on the back of the applique pieces.

grannie cheechee 10-14-2010 10:04 AM

Don't worry about it. Quilters just like to hear what and how you do things. Just remember if the nerves start picture the quilters in their underwear.

danmar 10-14-2010 11:57 PM

Hi everybody. I have permission to tell people what the second challenge is. I didn't want to post this unless I knew that it was alright. It is.

They sent us 10 Robert Kaufman fat quarters of material. We have to use at least 8 of them in our quilt. We can't purchase more of their materials to match. (Only use what they sent.) We can use as many other fabrics as we like. They fabrics they sent to us though, have to comprise at least 50% of the quilt top.

So, that's basically it. Aren't you curious as to what they are going to look like? I am.

quilterguy27 10-15-2010 06:36 AM

I'm very curious and can't wait to see what you come up with. I'm sure it will be beautiful no matter what you do. Best of luck tho I'm sure you won't need it.
