I once made a cousin a broomstick full size afgan for a wedding gift. When the invitation for the wedding came it said there would be a money tree so as not to receive duplicate gifts. Well, I had worked many hours on that afgan and she was going to get it. Instead of putting it in a box or nice wrapping I put it in a clear plastic blanket bag with a zipper. I place my gift by the money tree for all to see. I received a Thank you card and I forgot about it until her mother was showing me pictures of their nursery, she had twin girls, and there was my afgan on her rocking chair. She would use it when up in the night rocking her babies.

"what? no money?"

Needless to say I never did like the bitc ... person.

Yeap, think I would be little bit offended too, that was just rude

Whether they display a quilt, use it as a blanket or lap quilt during the winter is entirely up to them, but a Thank You for the gift is mandatory. If they can't be bothered to do that, no future gifts from me.

Offended...no, hurt...yes.

I stopped giving them a long time ago (unless it's for charity). If someone has a quilt of mine it is because they bought it.

Ditto. We put a lot of love and time into the projects. It would be nice to hear something more than the standard thank you, if we get that.

doesn't bother me at all.

Yes I was or am offended, just know I will make quilts for the one Gd and not her sister again.

This is the lesson I have learned too.. because not everyone is aware or cares how much work it takes to make a quilt or crochet something.. but I do it because I want to do it.. and if they do not appreciate it.. that is not my focus.. I know some day someone will.. so I make sure I mark everyone with my name and year I made it. That way I can live on.... hehhehehheeee.. (even if it is in a closet)

Once a gift is given, it's given. To love or hate or even...sell! Oh, yeah. I made her promise to tell me what she did with the money!!!

Hey, at least she asked if it was ok to sell it and it went to someone who will wear it! I too would want to know what she did with the money.

I don't make large projects for others...too much time and $$ invested.
