Are you planning on a Christmas Quilt/table runner etc. this year?

I was wondering if anyone is planning on making a Christmas themed quilt or table runner? Or any other kind of Christmas themed project?

I bought a panel from Moda Three Sisters called Sentiments yesterday while at my local quilt shop. It was half off. ..so I couldn't resist. The panels are of vintage postcards which I love. I can't say I'm too thrilled with how their finished quilt looks...take a peek....

I am going to choose my own fabrics to give it a bit more life. Do you agree that quilt "needs something"? I think it needs more "umph". Do you agree??? Is it too bland or what?

i think the display quilt is lovely- if you think it needs more *UMPH* by all means make one to better suit your tastes...that's one of the things that makes quilting so great is we can all take the same piece of fabric & make totally different things with it.
and to answer that first question---of course---tons of us will be making holiday items; table settings, quilts, mantle scarfs, tree skirts, the list goes on & on- we have ALOT of members and all are very creative & inspired when it comes to holiday/special occassion quilting.

Given the muted colors of the focus fabric, I think the quilt pictured is perfectly fitting, as I'm also sure it is the coordinating fabric line.
However, I'm sure you could find fabric that would look good with it and have more pizazz. I think I'd look for a darker green or black background maybe.
And yes one of my WIP's right now is a Christmas table topper (or maybe two) using some delightful precut 3" squares I got from someone on this board a couple years ago. I had used some of them for placemats shortly after I got them, but had not done anything with the rest. This project features the light blue, dark blue, red background coordinating prints with candy canes, gingerbread men, etc.
Have lots more Christmas fabric, but haven't determined what else I'm going to create yet.

I already made two tablerunner and tabletoppers Christmas themed and ordered Christmas Fabric from Keepsake Quilting to do many more. Need to start early. And I like the panel just the way it is but to each their own.

I vote for more umph, but it is a pretty panel.

I think the display quilt is lovely. However, you could do many things differently with the borders to give it more umph. You could also cut the panel squares apart and use different sashing.

Many Christmas projects on deck. I usually make table runners or wallhangings for each of my kids' homes and a couple for myself. Also some smaller candle mats or hot pads for several other friends and family. Better get started!!

I think the quilt needs more umph too - maybe some really strong emerald or burgundy borders around the postcards.

As for christmas projects, yes indeed. One of my daughters got married at christmas last year, so I think I'll make a traditional tree skirt for their first tree, and maybe a lap quilt with stars.

I am planning to finally finish up two Christmas quilts I made a couple of years ago. Need to put borders on and then get them quilted. Wish me luck.
