The last few days have been a nightmare. NOTHING I have done has been easy, have ripped some things three times, then my machine acted up so I'm using my trusty FW. Not only that, my IPad is quirky and I'm ready to throw it and the machine out the window.
I need a glass of wine! |

I'm a person, that as usual. Sew's and rips, also. My sister/law got me this heart shape wooden medallion. On this heart shape, it says--"As you sew, so shall ye rip". It has a wooden pair of scissor attached to the heart also. And as I sew, and rip. My sister/law comes to mind.

FINALLY.... moved past the reverse sewing stage!! YAY!!!

Ripping!!! I think I have worn out my seam ripper! Is that possible?
I am doing the four-hour Moda Carpenter Star pattern. NOT four hours. HST are not making me happy. |
I learned FMQ from Leah Day videos & her model is that the only thing you learn by ripping out stitches is to become a good ripper, so I mostly leave in my mistakes unless a seam is really crooked or has puckers. I've just been stitching for the past week other than 5 stitches I had to pull out of a needle turn project because my seam allowance on a spiral was getting too big.
I usually have to hunt around for a seam ripper when I need it because I use them so infrequently. No one's complained yet & it's a good exercise for me to practice letting go of my perfectionism. |
I have days like that, everything I sew has to have at least one seam fixed. Frustrating but I am learning it is just part of quilting.

I done so many things wrong yesterday that I decided to quit for a couple days. I can't do any FMQ good enough yet and it's time to quilt my daughters Queen size quilt on my Janome 6600, so 1st I'm excited to use my walking foot doing SITD (I love it) then remembered I had the queen sized Supreme Glide, put that on too......see where I'm going with this?? Yep after SITD around 4 Big Stars I realized I had chewed up the Supreme glider a bit and some how broke off one of the little pieces of the drop in bobbin cover, the piece that slides in to the side then you push down to snap in place. Luckily it still works but I'm ordering 2 more, one extra for my next stupid mistake. BUT I sure am learning from my mistakes! The HARD way :hunf:

Oh no, oldtisme! The moment you went from walking foot to Supreme Slider I was biting my nails for you! Those crazy things are not cheap, so I really feel for you.
Hang in there with the FMQ! You'll get there. I found that by switching to 50wt Aurifil thread that matches my quilt top, you can barely even see my stitches. Or you could do 100wt YLI silk thread in a matching or analogous color & it would be practically invisible. |
Oh yes, I have a variety of ripper's and they all get used to much.
