I have a Viking Mega Quilter with the Inspira frame and would love to sell my set up too. I really don't have the room that it needs.

I started quilting on a Grace Pro 10ft frame using the Viking MegaQuilter 9in machine. Fell in love with quilting but not the short throat space. Plus I can't FM quilt to save my life so went with what they called PCQ robotic system. Moved up to MQR that used the parts from the PCQ so I wasn't out all that money for it. Finally moved up to a stretched 18in Juki 98Q using the same frame and robotic system (MQR). Now I'm up with the big girls using a 12 ft frame, Innova 26" and IQ system. Think I'll stop there as I quilt just for myself anyway. But that 1st setup gave me my love for quilting.

How did u set up the pantograph to quilt from front of the machine.

I haven’t used a frame with a domestic machine so I’m certainly not an expert. When I look at this I see one advantage:
1.not having to pin baste the quilt. This is part of the quilting process I hate.

However I see several disadvantages.
1. There is only a small space to quilt in. I usually do one of a kind FMQ for my quilts. The small space would not work with many of the designs I do. I assume it works ok for pantographs.
2. You have another piece of equipment to deal with.
3. You have to keep moving the quilt on the frame.

If if it wasn’t for the first disadvantage I dislike the basting so much I’d probably would have considered it. I bought a sweet sixteen mid arm, and baste on a table

I started off using a homebuilt frame and an old singer with 10" throat. The pedal was rigged to work with a sturdy wire attatched to wooden handle and l squeezed the wire to the handle to make it run,lol. But now l have a used lnspira frame and put a 13" Bailey Home Quilter on it. The frame was built for a machine with a 9" throat, so l can only quilt that much in a row ( less as it rools)... saving $ for the bigger frame. But l Love doing my quilts this way!

I have the same machine as yours the 1500se brothers. I like working on it and it has a very nice stitch. My machine came with the grace frame. I go back and forth on using the frame. I put it up with I want to use the boards that came with it for the various design patos that are a lot of fun to use. It does take a lot of space in my already very limited space. I got a real deal on the machine and frame, one of those you couldn't pass up. I paid $200 for the entire setup. It gets used a great deal. The frame is the original Grace Frame. I love the machine as a stand alone to repair quilts with a lot of damage. The wider throat makes the job go smoother.

Hi all, new to the group. Been sewing and quilting for years but mostly smaller projects. I would like to get a machine quilting frame I can use with my sewing machine but they are all way out of my budget. I have been looking a people who have built their own and thought about giving it a try.

The other thought I had was trying to turn a hand quilting frame into a machine quilting frame. I was looking at the grace start-right ez3 frame and thought if I put a table under it and built a track system and carriage it might work. the frame would have all the rails and hardware for the quilt I just have to add the bits for the machine.

Has anyone done something like that?
