Defiently a Bold Betty. I love bright primary colors.

However, that isn't the effect I want! I always gravitate towards subtle designs, subtle colors, and textures, and always prefer a more traditional look colorwise than contemporary bright-hued stuff. Earth tones, not jewel! And I think wholecloth quilts are some of the most incredibly gorgeous things on the planet.

Often I will look at other people's quilts and appreciate the work, and the craftsmanship, but think to myself "I'd NEVER go with those colors or patterns!!" Kind of how people decorate their houses differently, or different styles of painting- classical, surrealist, abstract...you can appreciate the beauty even though it's not your "style". Make sense?

So what do you like?

I go more for the subtle colors, but can appreciate all other styles.
To me it is the beauty of the persons art that I love.

I have one piece of fabric that is so bright, it almost hurts your eyes to look at it LOL and other brights/lights that play nicely along side of it...
There are also earth tones, subtle pastels, contemporary styles, and I am working on a bigger selection of darks too... and more in my stash LOL
So I guess it depends on my mood, who I am making the fabrics for, and what catches my eye...

I have no ideal, still learning the ropes, but maybe someday I can answer this question...LOL

I gravitate to the Earth tones or Pastels if I have them,
and if not I just use what ever colors I have on hand. :-D

I have no hard or fast rules for myself. I am all over the board depending on what I am making and who I am making it for.

Very interesting answers. I am most definitely a subtle Sally! I admire bright colors but I just can't seem to work with them. I find it challenging to work with colors that I don't care for as much.

I like lots of variety. Love brights and pop but like autumn colors too. The ones I like least are beiges and Tans. I am not a retro fab fan and am not crazy about dark Thimbleberries or cival war fabrics. I love batiks of ALL kinds, fairy frosts and wonderful blenders. I LOVE FABRIC AND VARIETY!!!

I love most colors, depends on who the quilt is for or color scheme of room it will be used in

I've noticed that my style has evolved since I got back into quilting after being away from it for years. I used to choose traditional patterns and fabrics, now I like more contemporary patterns and fabrics. I don't care much for drab colors. I've found that when I make someone a quilt in colors I think I don't care for, it kind of grows on me while when working on it and then I don't mind so much. My most favorites are ocean colors, blues, greens, tans. Most of the quilts for me don't really match my decor, I just happen to love how they came out.
