Your favorite "quick' pattern

Our guild was just blessed with donated material by the husband one of our long time members that passed away recently and we are needing some quick, simple, but nice patterns to make lap size quilts from. Can you please share with me what some of YOUR favorite, quick & easy patterns are?
Thanks,
Can't wait to see what everyone says.
Have a good weekend.

I am sorry about the loss of your friend. I like the "take five quilt". You need 5 coordinating fabrics and off you go for a quick nice quilt.

This one looks nice

There is a free pattern on Fabric Buffet's web site called Kathy's Disappearing Nine Patch. The big difference in this pattern is, it is strip pieced and then cut, it is not squares. Goes together really quick.

Just Can't Cut It is another easy and quick pattern.

I like Yellow Brick Road. It also lends itself to larger size scraps. Fast easy... and you can't really goof it up!

Just Can't Cut It is definitely my go to pattern! I've made several and the quilt owners love how the look.

Log cabin or rail fence are old standbys that work up fast.

Hi, teddysmom, please clue me in the the Just Can't Cut It pattern. It sounds interesting, but I've never heard of it before. Thanks loads.

Lucky Stars by Atkinson Designs...the cutting takes awhile, but once that is done, the sewing is quick....I have loved every quilt I have made with this pattern!

Jingle 11-17-2012 07:42 PM

Illusions is fairly fast and very pretty. Uses two colors look for it at quickquilts.com.

donnaree59 11-17-2012 07:54 PM

I love Warm Wishes... I think it is a Project Linus pattern. Works up well with just a few colors and goes very, very fast!

The 10-minute block is usually my go-to pattern. You can make it out of any size squares and they go together really fast. In the black and white quilt, I used three different sizes of the 10-minute block.

rail fence :)

so many variations, and so easy to make it truly stunning.

Go to the Missouri Star Quilt Company site and view their videos. They have a number of quick and easy patterns that would work well for you.

"Take Five" is easy and with only five fabrics, it's done, oh, so quickly!

Potato Chip Quilt Pattern. Betcha can't make just one!

So sorry for your loss. It's so very hard to lose a friend, but the quilts you make will be like having part of her live on. My favorite pattern is the simple square of a feature focus fabric alternating with a 9-patch, and you can even make that square be a snowball block. I also like the 8-pointed star block, with Eleanor Burns quick and easy flying geese technique it works up quickly and you can easily change the square center with 4-patch, 9-patch, pin wheel, etc. for variation. Hope this helps.

D9P!!--one of my all time favorites!

dc989 11-18-2012 07:30 AM

My go-to slam them out fast pattern is to make four patch blocks with scrappy colors and a controlled background color then to alternate that with a one patch of the same size as the four patch. The block size I use depends on the amount of stash I want to use so I don't waste fabric, but a finished 6 or 8 inch works out well. I inherited several large totes of novelty fabric from my mom which made really nice single blocks and borders. I pulled out several colors from the novelty fabric for the four patch. I add an accent border if I have lots of a color and use it for binding or pull the backing toward the front and sew it by machine. Our guild does lap to twin size quilts for foster kids and babies and these worked out perfectly. I can make one in a day and used them to practice on my longarm.

kateyb 11-18-2012 07:35 AM

I like the warm wishes pattern available on the Linus website. It is great for prints that there isn't a lot of. Just need 3 other fabrics strip pieced of colors picked out of the print. It just takes 5/8 yard for the focus fabric for a crib size quilt.

SooBDo 11-18-2012 08:04 AM

I'm sorry for your loss. When you sew with her fabrics, it will be such a wonderful tribute. Just can't cut it is a good one. That burns up fabric in a hurry. Walkabout is another one that's quick, and good for using a focal fabric. Another quick one that I just finished in a day is Totally Triangular.

QuiltingNancy 11-18-2012 08:08 AM

I love Yellow Brick Road too. It looks different every time you make it. Can't go wrong with this pattern!

pollyjvan9 11-18-2012 08:35 AM

I like any of the scrappy strip quilts. There are so many things you can do with the strips and they don't take any time or thought to make them.

Mariah 11-18-2012 12:38 PM

My 2 favorites are Rail Fence and Log Cabin. Bet you have a fair amount of strips. Both of these are great for strips!

this is my Go-To quilt when I need a good looking one fast. The picture on the pattern does not do it justice. Use good looking fabric and you'll get good looking quilts.

I have made a bunch of Christmas quilts using Daisy Kingdom's 10" squares from strip panels paired with 2.5" nine patch. There are 2 different Raggedy Ann & Andys plus "stockings hung with care". Each one of the 9 patches are different fabrics but am going to settle on just using what I have already made from here on out. DK closed over 5 years ago but I had bought plenty. Don't know how many came to their pack but hundreds. Easy, easy!
