I've had mine for 2 years and love it. I use the speed contol and start stop button to fmq as it helps control things as my hands and feet don't seem to work at the same speed. Give it a trial run and see how you like it.

I have one and love it. I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago. I had it for about 2 weeks before I used it as I was in the middle of a project that had a deadline. I wanted time to learn about it.
When I started using it I thought I'd made a mistake. Didn't like it. But now I wouldn't part with it.

If you do get a 7700, you might consider keeping the 6600, too. I owned the 6600 and loved it; purchased a 7700 and gave the 6600 to my sister. I missed it so much, that I went back to my dealer and purchased a used 6600 and I have them both in my sewing room at right angles. I do think the 6600 is my all time favorite machine. The 7700 has a sewing arm that the 6600 lacks.

So do I use my 6600 for every thing except the embroidery which I do on my Brother Embroidery machine. I love the Janome. I think they are one of the best machines but I am prejudice about them.

Absolutely wonderful machine. Workhorse. Buy and enjoy.

Yes, somewhat a spontaneous purchase, without advanced research ..... this thread just let me do a huge sigh of relief! :)

Backstory .... was working at The EX and during a break from work, I somewhat stumbled on the local dealer who was there with the Janome booth. Asked what my next up machine was from my Janome Decor, that would give me a bigger throat area. He showed me the MC6500.

NO, I was not interested and was only starting my research.
YES, that's the story!

That was Saturday and it seemed to talk to me. Monday I went back for a more serious look. And asked, what would be the next up machine, and what's the differences. That built in walking foot and the great extra lighting had me saying SOLD for the MC6600. Table thrown in and 1/4" foot. Now if I'd only known about the blue dot bobbin case, I would have negotiated it's inclusion.

I can tell it's going to be a great winter for me! :)

If you are using the 1/4" that uses the accu feed feature, you have to move your needle over to 5.5. If you look at the packaging that came with the foot and the plate, it tells you to move the needle over.

I had a Janome 4900 and HATED IT!!! I just traded it in for a Bernina and I absolutely LOVE this machine - so much easier to use and use RIGHT NOW... it's great!

Would be interested to know what the problems were with your 4900, as I have a 4800 and have mixed feelings about it. Wonderful for piecing, not wonderful for quilting.
