I copied this pic here awhile back & now I can't find it :( to ask what the pattern is. Does anyone know? :?

I don't even remember seeing it, it is a nice one though. Good luck finding it's maker.

Hi--Not my quilt but if you look closely you can figure out the pattern. It looks like 8 blocks across and 8 blocks down. Each block looks to be 16 squares with the piecing of the fabrics together to form the pattern of the block. I hope this helps you out. This is a great scrappy quilt and I've saved the picture for future use. Beautiful quilt!

Oh I hope someone claims it! It is beautiful! I would like to know the pattern too.

It looks like a bento box pattern, no?

Celeste 03-13-2008 08:20 PM

Using adyldrop's info, I did a web search and found this.

Hi Annmarie,
You found my quilt!!
This is a scrappy quilt that was a free BOM from Victoriana Quilters Scrappy Quilts Series 2006. It is called Squares within Squares & the finished size blocks are 12" by 12". If my scanner worked I'd scan it for you but since it doesn't I'll see if I can find the page that I drew to show how they go together & add it to this thread. I did post it on the quilt board at one time I thought, but maybe I PM'd the drawing to a few people instead. I'll see what I can find & get back to you as I couldn't find it in my file

Hi Annmarie, the block that Lisa found you from Quilters Cache is basically the same except that in the Victoriana pattern it took 16 of the 3.5" unfinished squares to make one of the 12" blocks. Either way would have the same effect. :D

Ok I found my drawing of the Scrappy Block from Victoriana & it may not come up as a photo so you would have to download it. :D

Thanks Pam - that is perfect! I like your scrappy version best although I've been itching to do a blue & yellow quilt. We'll see.

Thanks everyone for your help.

It does look like Bento Box, but the Bento has a four patch at the center.

It is a Bento Box. There are 4 patches in the center, however the quilter used the same center for each block so it makes it look like it isn't from a distance. Look closer. It's an easy block to make. Just start with a center twice the size of your strips. Add 3 more strips around that alternating dark and light. If you have a 13.5 inch block. Cut it in half, then in half again. Each littler block will be 6.5 after cutting. Mix them up and sew them back together again. By using the same fabric for each center block, you'll have the same look.

Ooops, the picture only has 2 rounds counting the center. Sorry.

Pam - can't believe I never thanked you for this. Found the link in a bunch of computer files I was cleaning out. Keeping this one. Still hope to make it. Thanks again, Annmarie
