I'm going to give this wall hanging as a wedding gift. Am mistified as to how to quilt it. The fabric is not your usual cotton but a loosely woven batik. Will be quilting it myself on a QC 1000. Am not real experienced yet. Would very much appreciate your thoughts!

Is that decorative thread part of the fabric or you added it? So not to compete with that it looks like you might want to just stitch in the ditch.

It is a decorative thread in the fabric itself. Stitch in the ditch is a great idea! Thank you!

Oh man thats so cool I thought it was already quilted. :) Neat fabric!! Sorry no idea on quilting though.

Decorative stitch in the ditch using sewing machine.

Circles would be fantastic quilted on that pattern. I would do small circles in each small square and then three circles going across the two empty blocks diagonal including the intersection. I would stitch in the ditch for all seams.

I like the circle idea. There are lots of straight lines now so circles would give you some more movement.
|
stitch in the ditch and maybe quilt some hearts on it

I always think geometric patterns benefit from curves in the quilting. I find it difficult to do stitch-in-the-ditch with enough accuracy to satisfy me, but curvy lines are very forgiving and do not demand accuracy. How about using a walking foot to make wavy lines flow down the quilt, perhaps in-between the decorative threads already in the fabric?

I love the circle idea! Would have never thought of that myself but it would really make the quilt interesting.
