I have used muslin ironed on freezer paper and then cut to paper size (8 1/2 x 11) and put in through the printer. My printers have all been the kind that feeds the paper through from the back and not up through the bottom. Don't know how that might work.

The photo comes out very nice, but my experience was that it faded badly when washed. I am going to try "setting" the color on the next one.

Just remember that if you do print them yourself, they will fade with washing, so the quilt should be for hanging, not daily use. If you want something that can be washed, you will need to take the photos and fabric to a professional printer.

I used Printed Treasures, follow the directions to a T and it came out very good. Yes, it will fade about like fabric or maybe just a touch more but I liked the way mine turned out.

They came out beautifully. I made 7 Christmas Quilts for grandkids and put a photo of me with the child and a little paragraph about what they mean to me. I think I would try to set the color, maybe by ironing or soaking in some kind of solution. After washed the picture was light, but you could still see it. I am going to see about the rolls others have talked about here, because the fabric is quite expensive at Joannes, I ALWAYS use a coupon for that type of purchase. :)

I've made four "picture" quilts, for graduations. They are not hare or very expensive. As with everything quality begats quality. You have to use quality material and have a good inkjet printer. You can buy pretreated material or make your own.

I have tried all the fabric sheets that are made. Not very successful until I found the Printed Treasures Brand. The color came out great and I found the sheets east to work with. Good Luck.

Oh, I forgot...I tape my pictures to a sheet of computer paper covering the sheet to get the best use of each fabric sheet. I can usually get 4 or 5 pictures per fabric sheet, depending how large my pictures are.
