Hey folks,
Everybody be honest now...Which part of the quilting process do you like the least? Like, cutting or binding or pressing. Maybe if we get a concensus we can put our heads together and figure out ways to make the yucky part a little easier. What do you think?

I'm there right now with the quilt I am working on! The "why isn't this done yet" stage! It seems like I have been working on this quilt forever and I'm not even close to being done yet.....

Some projects go a little faster than others, but occasionally this happens with a project and I hate it! Mostly because I start losing interest at a certain point and worry I will give up on it! LOL

Other than that, I guess the other part I dislike would be handstitching the bindings...especially on the larger quilts as that too seems to take forever!

Call me impatient!! LOL

the yucky part for me is correcting my errors.
i get so mad at myself. most of the time they occur when i am trying to hurry or have gotten too tired to be working.

The yucky part for me is the very beginning, having to lay all my fabric out, iron it, and cut it. I enjoy the sewing part. The other yucky part is laying it out to sandwich it. So thought i'd try something easy this week, thought i'd try a quilt as you go circle quilt, thought it would be sooo easy! I'm up to my neck in circles everywhere! lol

For me it's not so much yucky as I feel I'm being tested each time I sit down to sew. Being new at the sewing machine, I honestly feel the hardest part is getting a piecing method down. Picking colors, designing, cutting the fabric, basting, backing, finishing, all take a seat behind the sewing machine. I've seriously been giving thought to doing everything by hand, but not being the one to give up quite that quickly, the terrier in me has opted for tenacity versus timidity in the matter.

An upgrade on the machine may be in order as well since mine is a basic Janome designed for beginners. Needle down, a true scant 1/4 or movable needle, and even feed sound so inviting...

I hate, the seam ripper, My dum mistakes, and not having enough time to do all that I want. I hate it when my sewing room is a mess. And I hate being interupted when I'm on a roll. Other then that, everything else is pure joy..........

I don't know that it's yucky, per se, but the hardest part for me is the quilting. I don't want to hand quilt and I have very limited room when I'm quilting on my machine...Not a lot of clearance between the needle part and the body part. If I ever want to do anything bigger than a lap quilt I'll probably have to hire it done.

I think basting is very boring.

For me, it really depends on the project. Like with the denim quilt it was smooth sailing until I got to layering it together and quilting it and with the gigantic Wind Waker sea map wall hanging its just about everything that needs to be done before I actually work on it (designing, sizing, techniques to use, etc.)

But I think something that's always going to be something I'm going to hate is the layering it all together part. Don't have much space to work with so getting it all together is Hell. I used the wall to get the denim quilt together. Quilting it is not that fun either. Well, with smaller projects its easy, but there's not much clearence between my needle and the body of my machine so it gets harder to quilt larger things. I've learned if I'm working on larger things and I need to quilt in the middle I have to tightly roll up what's not being quilted at the moment and then try to run it through the machine. Looked like I was sewing a huge blue carpet roll when I was quilting the middle of the denim quilt. lol.

for me, it is the ironing. Also, I think basting is boring, too. Oh, and anytime I let myself get overtired and make mistakes.
