Zakka
 

Can anyone please explain to me what makes something "zakka style". There are heaps of things on Pinterest and other sites but nothing that seems to define it from any other form of patchwork. It's very pretty, but I just don't understand what makes it "Zakka".

One site I saw said it means "many little things" Sounds like quilts to me!

Never heard the word before!! Interesting.

That definition leaves me even more confused than before I read it.

Maybe it's still Asian enough that we've not heard much about it here in the US.

Sounds like someone gave a fancy name to common things to make it sound more exotic. Upcycling words?

Seems it just covers handcrafts/vintage in a decorative context. Here's me stitching away and trawling Opportunity shops, unaware I may be on trend somewhere in the world:)

For sure! You had no idea that "bloggers out there" were making what you do all the time, famous and "trendy". At least that is how I sometimes feel.

It's Japanese for handmade fabric household items. Usually has some embroidery or patchwork. Think toaster cover, apron, potholders , fabric boxes. I love Zakka style.

Especially if it is on Pinterest....anything to get 5 minutes of fame!

Like sewing/ crafty here........

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I looked at Zakka on Pinterest and it just looks, to me, like fancy clutter.
