Any Zentanglers out there??? I've thought about buying Suzanne McNeill's books but I hate to buy something without knowing its worth it. So, does anyone have her books? Are they worth buying? Has anyone used it on fabric? Like I need another obsession

I play around with it, but so far only pen and paper. I've got too many quilt projects in line right now.

I really REALLY enjoy Zentangles. If you google "zentangles" you will have lots of images from which to draw inspiration. I was asked to design a playing card for a game called Tichu. The card I was to design was the '9 of Stars'. I use zentangles in the design.

Interesting idea! Her books are fairly reasonable on Amazon

Well, this board never disappoints! I learned something new again today!

Fun and very addicting!!!

I bought the book and didn't really think it was worth it. I've been doing it since junior high school just didn't know it had a name!

I don't understand the reference to Zentangles and books by Suzanne McNeill

Looks like fun!

Zentangling has been popular in the art quilt world for quite awhile now. There's a free download article on how to do it from Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine. http://www.quiltingdaily.com/media/p/17250.aspx
There's also an article on zentangle quilting in the current issue of Quilting Arts as well as a lot of info online about how to incorporate it into quilts either through surface design, machine quilting or fusible appliqué. I love it, but I've been doodling like that since forever. |
Me too...doodling like that since I was a kid. But, I have gotten some new inspirations! Love zentangle-ing!

Wow, that's awesome!

Love the designs in the book but was reluctant to buy it when I saw that it had less than 20 pages. Finally got one of the books at a reduced price. Just couldn't pay full price for it but had to have it!

Our guild is having Pat Ferguson come in and do a Zentangles presentation / trunk show this month and a full workshop the next day.
Pat also has a Zentangles workbook. Just google Pat Ferguson quilts and you can see what she has; don't know how it compares to Susan McNeil. Not my cuppa tea but I'm looking forward to the presentation! |
