I know they offer a lot of options and it can be confusing, but did you stop to consider that the number of options are not to get more money out of you, but to find ways to send your stuff less expensively?

Why is it that we all tend to immediately jump to the negative side of something when actually we are the ones in the wrong? The USPS provides us with boxes to ship things in...they only ask that we use their particular services when we use them. And then we get mad at USPS when we try to cheat? Something doesn't seem right to me about that. Ladies...we all need to play by the rules and if you don't know the rules, you need to ask. Thats just MHO.

I agree with you wholeheartedly......it just seems that many members want to bash whomever for whatever when they really need to educate themselves more and there would be no problems. There are many frustrating situations in life and it's ones on choice in how they deal with them and whether they make a federal case out of nothing. I am just grateful that we do have the postal service to use and always try my best to view the positives rather than the perceived negatives.

hey heres a question, I know I can get a "care package "
for about$12-14 dollars, wonder if that could be used? reason why I ask is you can fill that box full and still pay that 12-14 dollars. so any feed back on that? or is that kinda being deceiving?

This is just plain not true. They don't randomly charge whatever they want just because they don't like what you're wearing or something! The postage rates for Priority Mail are based on weight and distance. You can get an estimate of any rates, compare them, whatever you want at the USPS website. It doesn't have to be a surprise when you are at the PO. Be an informed consumer. http://www.usps.com/tools/calculatepostage/welcome.htm
Good grief!! The very thought of the USPS people sitting (or standing) there charging us whatever they wanted to on that particular day, is so mind boggling that it disturbs the senses. Do you really believe that!? It would be as though you went to the grocery store for a loaf of bread and the cashier said "Hmm, let's see, I think I'll charge you ten dollars today." Can you see how ridiculous that would be?

I re-read this over a couple times and still didn't make sense what you were trying to ask

Wow! I didn't even know about that, and I've been mailing packages to my son for almost a year now. I wonder how come the postal person didn't mention it to me. Guess it's my own fault for not keeping up with things. Next one (Christmas) will go that way. I wonder though, if they go the slowest way possible. 8-)

If you mean buy a box meant to send things to soldiers and use it for non-soldier things, then it would be deceiving. Is that what you meant? I was still confused.

I went on line and ordered the boxes that they are using to ship stuff for the military. They were free. They go for $11.00 ( not absolutely sure of the cost. It was a year ago) and you can fill them as heavy as you want. they ship quickly and I think my soldier got his in one week and it went to Afganastan. (sp)

the post office is no longer a government run facility. it's been privatized. so don't blame the government.

you're right. some boxes say flat-rate and some don't. read the labeling. and sometimes it's cheaper not to use those boxes at all. go to the window and ask what it costs for the cheapest way. they tell you.
