Query re Lessons on Beginner Blocks?
#1
Hi Folks, caught the discussion about a block of the week, especially the requests for beginner blocks and it got me thinking.
Is there a need out there for some sort of teaching on the basics of quilting?
Do we have any beginner quilters on board here who would use and benefit form such a program?
I would be very happy to offer some lessons on making some beginner blocks if there is a genuine need for it and somebody would benefit from it
I couldn’t possible commit to one a week but am thinking maybe once a month, starting with something like the 9 patch and moving onwards from there.
I would like your feedback on whether you would use this and find it useful. If there is enough demand we will see what we can work out.
Please think carefully about whether you would actually use a program like this as this would require a lot of work on my behalf and although I get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from teaching and encouraging others in this fabulous craft of ours, I don’t want to take on the extra workload if no one will really benefit from it.
Let me know your thoughts :D
Cheers

I love the idea, and would participate. I'm a beginner at best, and some of the blocks of the month are very intimidating to me, especially anything with triangles...LOL.
So, you can count me in if you should move forward with this.
I also like your suggestion of a once a month kind of thing, because I know for me and my schedule I could devote quality time to it, and not waste your time.
Thanks for the great idea!!

Thanks for the feed back ladies :D . I'll leave it till after the weekend to see what folks have to say and then see what I can sort out. I'm quite excited about doing this, if it would be of real use to people :P

Hi :-) I am a beginner quillter and would very much appreciate lessons
on beginner blocks :!: Count me in :D Once a month would be good
for me, since my time is tight i.e., moving, looking for work, volunteering,
etc. I do enjoy reading over the quilting forum and admire all the
beautiful quilts the ladies post on this forum. Thankyou for offering

This sounds great, I am also learning from books but mostly from this site. I really need ideas on how to lay out blocks and sew on sashings, well everything I guess! Count me in!

I don't know if I am a beginner or not. I have only tried basic blocks. I have done exactly 1 quilt with triangles, and have never tried curved or applique. So, for me, it would depend on what kind of content the class offered. I guess I am an advanced beginner, and self taught at that. I took one class 10 years ago. I would probably sit in on as many of them as I could to make sure my technique is right, and just to learn whatever. Sounds like fun.

I'm not a beginner, but would be intersted to see what you have to offer. I'm sure I'd pick up a new trick or two! This is a very generous offer, and we would greatly appreciate the time and energy you put into this!
