Default How to remove bulk from bringing points together

Awhile back I remember a tute on how to flatten "lumps"
when bringing points together. It entailed removing stitches,
(I think) Anyway I can't remember how to do this.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Elaine
Hope I made myself clear.

Pressing seams open helps too. I just quilt around the intersections, not over them.
