I've heard of using the pink foam board insulation (1 1/2" x 2' x 8' panels) as a design wall, but how would it work to pin the layers together? I've never made a quilt larger than a baby quilt (except for the "cars" one I did). So, I'm hoping if I get 4 of the panels I could use them on the dining room table, temporarily duck tape them together and use them as a base to pin the back, batting and top together? Any suggestions? How to you do it?

I pin my layers together by first layering the sandwich together on the dining room table and hand smoothing the best I can. Then I slide the whole sandwich off one end of the table with just one corner left on the table. I start pinning there (I use Pinmoors) and carefully pin diagonally from one corner to the other as I push the fabric up from the floor. The weight of the fabric hanging over the edge of the table works to keep everything smooth. Just keep sliding the sandwich up as you pin - and I'm pretty liberal with my pinning :) Hope this helps -
