Default Question about Minkee

Do you think Minkee would be too warm for a quilt headed to Dallas, Tx? It is 48 x 77 for my son, using warm and natural batting and I thought Minkee would be very comfy for the back. Thoughts? Dianne

minkie is pretty warm- especially with batting- often people leave out the batting when using minkie for the back. i've made quite a few quilts with minkie backs- all have batting- they are heavy, warm quilts- if you want to use batting you may want to choose something (less dense) than the warm & natural- hobbs heirloom 80/20 is one of my favorites.
if your son likes heavy warm snuggly ones he will love it. i don't know if it gets chilly in Dallas but i had a gentleman in Houston purchase wool quilts from me---he just turns his (AIR) higher- keeps his place quite chilly - doesn't matter if its 90 outside.

I tried Minkee once and had a problem with it stretching and moving around but it is very warm and soft.

Minkee is very warm! I would go with a cotton batting and regular backing.

I am not to far from Dallas, only 100 miles, and our weather is very similar. I don't think it would be to warm. It just depends if your son is cold-natured or not. It would be to warm for me but not my husband or granddaughter.
