question about the Mommy and Me Baby Quilts
I do not have the pattern but have a coloring book image that I am using. Question for those who have made them, how do you do the applique of the elephants and balloons. Also how are they attached to the quilt, hoping by machine but what stitch to use.
Have not done applique in a very long time and would like help to make one for a gal that had a lot of trouble getting pregnant.

I am not familiar with this specific quilt. but you should be able to use any method of applique that you prefer. When machine applique-ing, I like to use the blanket stitch. Others like to use a narrow zig zag. personal preference. Would love to see the quilt when it is done!

That is why I like to use a pattern. Normally, all of those instructions are given by the pattern designer. Other than that, I am sure youtube has many videos for applique methods. It will make a darling quilt.

Thank you jmoore, the quilt is adorable. Did you do machine blanket stitch or by hand. If by hand what thread did you use. I need to add a balloon to the baby, then ready to start the final stitching.
In my stash, I found a pastel, pre-pieced fabric with 2" squares, that am using for the top and bottom. Perfect colors for a baby girl.

Thank you. I used the blanket stitch on my machine...and used a matching thread for the elephants and also for the balloons. I used an open toe foot and set my needle to one side so it was easy to line up the stitches.
