Question question regarding chenille quilt

I am new to this. Would it work to make a chenille quilt without batting? The one I made with batting is more like a rug. I appreciate any input.

I’ve never used batting in chenille projects. I might have to try it. But, to answer your question- yes, you can make chenille quilts without batting.

I haven't used chenille, yet. I think batting would make it too heavy.

Welcome to this board. Lots of helpful and knowledgeable people here.

Does someone have an idea for repurposing a chenille bedspread, making something new out of something old?

I have used blocks of chenille in a quilt but never made a whole quilt using it, I did put batting in the quilt and because there are other types of blocks it is not heavy also I quilted it using an allover design. Welcome to the board Karen.

A chenille quilt is on my To Do List.
Mama Kahu, my sister hunts for old chenille bedspreads, cleans them up and then makes stuffed rabbits with them. She has done very well selling them at craft fairs.
